I suffer with osteoarthritis and 4 years ago, I had a hip replacement which left me with the operated leg longer than my other one which meant I had a significant limp. Last year, I was in excruciating pain with my other hip and was housebound as I had problems walking from one room to another. I was referred to Mr Chana who put me at ease as soon as I walked into his surgery, he listened to me and after looking at my X rays and examining me, told me I needed a total hip replacement. During that first consultation, Mr Chana also remarked on my limp and said that when he operates on my hip, he would do his very best to make my legs level. He was very easy to talk to and asked if I had any questions, at which point he booked my admission date. I had my surgery on 22nd March and Mr Chana visited me on the ward the same day. He said the surgery went well and to look down at my legs. To my amazement, my legs were level, I could not believe it. My recovery went well and I cannot thank Mr Chana enough for what he did for me. He is such a very kind, dedicated and charming man and I would highly recommend him, he goes to the very top in my estimation.

Mr Chana undertook a total hip replacement operation on me in 2015 which went extremely well. My recovery was as per his predictions and I was soon back to normal. I therefore had no hesitation in returning to him in 2021 when the other hip showed signs of wear, Mr Chana successfully undertook the second total hip replacement surgery in May 2021. Both the operation and recovery has been managed well by Mr Chana and his team. I have no hesitation in recommending him for anyone anticipating the need for this type of surgery. A true professional with high levels of skills, empathy with his patients and an excellent, individual to work together with.

Dr Rishi was very highly recommended by my Next door neighbour. It was my first visit last week and I was very impressed with Dr Rishi's excellent service. He made me feel very much at home and answered all my questions very patiently. I highly recommend him. Thank you, Dr Rishi Chana.

As an active 50 year old, I started to suffer considerable hip pain along with the onset of a noticeable limp. I was diagnosed with Avascular necrosis of the right hip and was referred to Mr Chana for a consultation and total hip replacement. During my initial consultation Mr Chana clearly explained the procedure and answered the questions raised. Surgery was booked at the ‘The Princess Margaret Hospital’ and was completed just prior to the Coronavirus lockdown in March 2020. The procedure went well, and I mobilised quickly. Due to the national lockdown, initial follow-ups were conducted by video call and Mr Chana was happy to be contacted directly with any questions or concerns. I was fully recovered by 12 weeks and able to regain my fitness needed for work. During my recovery period, I became aware that I was beginning to experience movement restrictions in the left hip. Subsequent investigation with Mr Chana identified that I had CAM impingement, anterior labral tear, an acetabular cyst and that weight bearing was becoming compromised, I therefore needed a total left hip replacement. Surgery was book again at ‘The Princess Margaret Hospital’ and completed in October 2020. The procedure went well, Mr Chana was able to keep the hip rotator cuff intact this time by performing a ‘piriformis-sparing approach’. This elevated pain levels initially but significantly reduced my recovery time. I was able to walk unaided at 2 weeks and was back to fitness needed for work at 8 weeks. The physiotherapist commented that at 7 weeks post-surgery that I was at a level equal to 12-14 weeks. I have complete faith in recommending Mr Chana and ‘The Princess Margaret Hospital’ – indeed a friend of mine has two hips that need replacement, the first is scheduled with him in February 2021 (lockdown permitting).

I met Mr Rishi Chana a few months ago as a recommendation from another hip consultant as I wanted to weigh up all my options given my recent diagnosis, pincer/cam impingement, labrum tear and secondary arthritis. This was a difficult decision for me mainly because I was quite nervous about surgery and didn't want to be inactive for too long as I am fit and love exercise, however the pain I endured before surgery was so excruciating that I had to make a decision fast. What I really liked about Mr Chana was the fact that he talked me through my physical hip state worse case/best case and was honestly direct which I needed as I like straight talking people it helps you come to terms with what is really going on and certainly aided my decision process. He talked through the procedure, the risks and stats to support success rates etc, I also carried out my own homework on him and felt really safe that I had made the right decision with the right consultant given the results I was aiming for personally. So fast forward I had my hip arthroscopy back in November 2020, so far I have experienced very little pain, only an ache here and there only. I have also small incisions which are barely there with no swelling or bruising and I truly put this down to the skills of Mr Chana. Mr Chana came to see me directly after my surgery to tell me what a success it had been which filled me with such euphoria and hope for a bit more time with my own hip.I feel very lucky today and will continue to take the advice from Mr Chana and my physio to ensure best recovery. I was off my crutches in 2 weeks and have to say I am delighted with this result as I am now full weight bearing with no pain. Mr Chana is an exceptional consultant and I am in awe of what he has done to help me gain some quality of life back and in my recent follow up, (3 weeks post surgery) I have been told I can get back on my bike, yes I have to take it easy and not go crazy however this is the best news ever thanks to him! I cannot thank him and his team enough for the ongoing care and results so far - A massive thanks
