I cannot thank Mr Westerman enough for my replacement knee, it has literally changed my life. I am a 51 yr old ex runner and flight attendant and have suffered for many years being 'bone-on-bone' in my left knee. Despite my 'youth', he was happy to assist me and I underwent a full replacement (assisted by the Mako robot) the week before Christmas. I am 6 weeks on, back in the gym, walking unaided and driving already. My scar has healed brilliantly and although the first week was painful, I would recommend both this surgery and this amazing surgeon (and his fab team at the Meriden). I followed every bit of advice and consistently practised the physiotherapy, and would reiterate that icing and physio is crucial to a speedy recovery.

I am delighted (and amazed) at the speed of my recovery and the joy of being pain free. it is nearly two weeks since my operation and I am almost back to running .....but no, I am doing as I was told because why waste the skills of Mr Westerman and his team. brilliant and thank you. PS I had the Makrobotic hip replacement and it is well worth it.

I am 61 years old, already with double knee replacements, and first met Mr Westerman on 1st June 2023. At the time both hips were causing immense pain 24/7 despite being on 180mg of Co -codomol daily. I could not sit in a chair for more than a few moments, I could not walk unaided, my sleep was constantly disturbed and driving had become impossible. In essence I had no quality of life. Within minutes of that first meeting, he suggested my right hip be replaced on 24/6/23 and the left on 17/08/23. His reassuring smile and demeanour gave me confidence that I would recover from this and live again. Both operations went exactly to plan and thanks to his immense skill and understanding I am now able to enjoy my life, take daily walks, sit at a table to eat and intend to continue my recovery by going to aqua gym to strengthen my muscles. I cannot find the words to express my deepest gratitude to Mr Westerman and would reassure anyone who needs this operation that you could not be in the hands of anyone better. Thank you seems so terribly inadequate so i'm hoping this testament will help to express my gratitude.

I am a 78 year old man who has always enjoyed rambling and hill walking. I developed osteo-arthritis in my right hip a few years ago but thought I could manage this as it did not feel to painful and carry on. But my gait became more and more lopsided which finally caused related back pain. After examining an exploratory x-ray Mr Westerman advised a prompt hip replacement. He and his team at the Nuffield were superb, and the aftercare was excellent. I was home the day after the operation, walking round the house unaided after three weeks and returned my crutches after four weeks. Mr Westerman signed me off In just under five weeks with final wise advice about being patient in building up strength again gradually I am profoundly grateful to him and his team for dealing with my anxieties so sympathetically and for such professional Surgical treatment. I would unreservedly recommend his skilled services to anyone considering hip replacement. Alistair Grearson.

I had a total hip replacement on Good Friday and now, nearly 10 weeks later I am walking without pain and able to live an active life again Advice about the procedure was accurate and reassuring. There was quite a lot of discomfort for the first two weeks, obviously, but with the exercise programme mobility and confidence increased quickly. I am very pleased that Mr Westerman carried out my op. He exudes confidence through his clear no nonsense manner. Advice about pre-op exercise and post-op exercise was excellent. With hindsight I was not not as clear as I needed to be about what movements, sleeping positions etc I should NOT attempt in the first few weeks. Well worth asking this question explicitly!
