I am 81 years old and following a fall, I have just had a very successful reverse shoulder replacement performed by Mr Sinnerton. I have recovered all the movement in my arm and shoulder and am now 7 weeks post op. Mr Sinnerton inspires confidence and is friendly, reassuring and very approachable. The care and treatments that I received at The Princess Margaret Hospital were of the highest standard.

I went to Mr Sinnerton with tennis elbow. I was immediately sent for ultrasound and treatment via injection. This worked very well for me and was a total success. I was sent to Dr George consultant radiologist who was also extremely competent, a good listener and was very good at distracting me from what could have been a very painful procedure (but wasn't for me). My experience was a very positive one and I would recommend it to anyone else.

Excellent listener and always gave full and frank advice in a way I could understand.

As a difficult case, I don't feel this surgeon did adequate imaging or examination in order to truely understand my condition. He performed two surgical procedures on my right shoulder, one to increase range and the other to decompress the sub-acromial space. These both helped but were a long way from addressing my underlying condition. I returned to him 6 months after the second procedure in severe pain to which he almost dismissed me from his room until I insisted he examine me. Instead of referring me somewhere else he just said good luck with that. The outcome was that he had missed two near full-thickness tears and a long-head biceps lesion that required a tenodesis. These were subsequently revised (fixed) by another surgeon six months later.

Response from Mr Richard Sinnerton

Unfortunately these comments are anonymous so I can't really make a defense of this. I don't recognise the case and think it would be unusual for me to be so dismissive of a patient and their concerns. I may have offered a further follow-up which wasn't taken up and instead of coming back to me to discuss their worries they went elsewhere. Anyway, I am glad their shoulder is better.
