From the outset, Mr Mallina was empathetic, attentive and reassuring. He operated on my hand (Dupuytrens) and, despite being informed that the surgery is not always 100% successful, I am delighted with the outcome, as was Mr Mallina. At a follow-up appointment, it was heart-warming to see how pleased Mr Mallina was with the results and this makes him even more of a hero in my book. This surgery has already made a huge impact to my daily life and inevitably my well-being. Thank you, Mr Mallina!

After several years suffering a loss of sensation in my fingers I had a consultation with Mr Mallina at Shirley Oaks hospital. He suggested my loss of sensitivity was due, in part at least, to carpal tunnel restriction and recommended a carpal tunnel release operation. This was duly carried out by Mr Mallina. Throughout the whole process from initial consultation, to operation, to a follow-up consultation, Mr Mallina was patient and thorough in his explanations of the risks as well as of the benefits posed by the procedure. His patient, courteous and friendly manner together with his professionalism would lead me to recommend him to anyone suffering a similar complaint.

I had carpal tunnel surgery by Dr Mallina on both hands, the right one in July 2022 and the left one in March 2023. Dr Mallina explained to me in details my options which were open carpal tunnel release or endoscopic carpal tunnel release. I elected the endoscopic surgery because it was less invasive, the hand gets its movement back quicker despite the overall recovery period being the same as the open surgery. However, due to the hospital missing a piece of equipment and the option to postpone my surgery to another day, I decided to proceed with open procedure. In my opinion the recovery following endoscopic surgery is faster, I was able to do a full fist with some help on the day of the surgery, without help 2 days after whereas with the open surgery it took me 2 weeks to be able to close my hand in a full fist. Overall I regained full movement with 3 days whereas with the open surgery it took me 4 weeks. In terms of strength I had 70% back with endoscopic after 5 days, 90% after 2 weeks, full strength after 5 weeks. Whereas it took me 4 weeks to regain 70% of my strength and 6 weeks for full strength. The healing of the wound was also faster with endoscopic surgery, approximately 10 days, 5 weeks for the open surgery. Following my experience, I highly recommend Dr Mallina and the endoscopic surgery for anyone considering carpal tunnel release surgery.

Mr Mallina treated my trigger finger which had been an ongoing issue for over a year. He was very thorough on examination and medical history. He took time to explain the different treatment options, including risks and possible complications. He showed empathy and offered clear expert advice and treatment with a personal touch. I have had a very positive outcome from my treatment and would recommend Mr Mallina.

I saw Mr Mallina for dupuytren's contracture to my middle finger on my right hand. Having already had a previous unsuccessful operation on another digit with the same condition with another surgeon, I was reluctant and anxious to undergo another operation. Mr Mallina was very reassuring, and took a lot of time to discuss the surgery, complications and potential outcome. In all of our meetings he was thorough, kind, considerate and professional. Needless to say, the operation has been a complete success. The post-op and follow up care has been second to none and Mr Mallina has gone over and above in making sure the operation and recovery went smoothly. I thoroughly recommend him and will have no hesitation in returning to him for my left hand. Thank you Mr Mallina!
