I was referred to Raj Nair with a suspected kidney cancer. Raj met me quickly, was very down to earth in is approach, explained clearly and in layman's terms what he suspected my cancer was and what course of action we needed to take. My tumour was not an easy extraction given it was located deep in the kidney. I was reassured to know that Raj's expertise is this type of procedure. Raj and his team extracted the tumour without complications or the need to remove the entire kidney. I am pleased to say that I do not need any follow-up treatment. A huge thank you to Raj and his team.

I have suffered for many years with an enlarged prostate gland and when my latest PSA test indicated it was raised above 2, I approached my GP October 2023 with a request for a parametric MRI scan. He referred me to my local NHS Trust to see a Urologist. By December 2023 I had not received any notification of an appointment and because of having had a stage 3 melanoma removed from my back in March 2023, took the decision to obtain a private consultation. After an in depth search of Consultant Urologists took the decision to see Mr. Rajesh Nair. Initial consultation/examination December 2023 at HCA. On meeting Mr. Nair with my wife we found him to be a charming man who put us immediately at ease. Exuberant and energetic. I discussed my concerns and Mr. Nair was able to give straightforward and easy to understand answers/options as to the way forward for me. Scan 9th January/12th January 2024 telephone consultation. Advised enlarged prostate. No visible cancer. Mr. Nair advised me after discussion would perform laser surgery (HOLEP) Holmium Laser Enucleation of the prostate. Operation took place at Guys HCA wing 22nd February 2024. Visited pre-surgery by Mr. Nair and Dr. Jamie McCanny, Anaesthetist. Like Mr. Nair, Dr. McCanny was extremely professional and caring. And took time to chat with me putting me totally at ease. Approximately hour and half later saw me in recovery with catheter and I was returned to my room. I had no pain at all post surgery and was closely monitored by the nursing staff. Early following morning Mr. Nair checked in on me and indicated the operation was a complete success. I was discharged early afternoon of the third day having had the catheter removed. My flow is now excellent. Night visits to the bathroom reduced to one/two. And working on pelvic exercises to assist muscle control of bladder. Follow up phone consultation three weeks later with Mr. Nair confirmed that all had gone well and that histology showed no cancer. All our contact with Mr. Nair and his team, the professionalism, empathy and care shown to me and my wife has been of the highest calibre. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Nair and his team to anyone needing prostate surgery. And cannot thank Mr. Rajesh Nair enough for the successful outcome of my surgery.

Guy’s St Thomas’ Hospital at London Bridge have top people in Urology. Less than four days after complex uretic surgery I am being discharged, only a little sore and hugely grateful to Mr Nair and his dedicated team, who removed the tumour compromised ureter serving my sole kidney. To everyone’s surprise and relief my unexpectedly large bladder could be stretched to form a replacement ureter rather than utilize a section of my ilium. Surgery was robot assisted leaving negligible external evidence. Mr Nair was recommended to me by his colleague Mr Ben Challacombe , who removed my first kidney 8 years ago and who remembered me instantly when I called, returning my call within moments. This is indicative of the depth of care and dedication Mr Nair and his colleague display for their patients. Mr Nair is dedicated to improving his already world class skill set with lessons learned in the detail of each operation. Thank you Raj and Ben from the bottom of my heart
