I had an issue with a disc in my lower back which had progressively got worse; I was in a lot of pain for many months which resulted in not being able to walk properly, having to lie down almost all the time and affecting my ability to work or do any of my hobbies. Nuffield health gave me Mr Al-Mahfoudh’s details. From my first visit with Mr Al-Mahfoudh he was excellent; he went through all the options and was very clear and decisive in the option of having surgery. His approach made me feel confident in the option I chose. The surgery went very well; from the moment I woke up from surgery the pain was gone. The aftercare from Mr Al-Mahfoudh again was excellent; he gave me clear instructions for recovery and rest, and after sticking to them, nearly 5 months since the operation it was as if I never had a back problem!!

The care I received from Mr Rafid Al-Mahfoudh was beyond excellent. I have a number of health issues that meant I couldn’t have the back surgery that I originally went to Nuffield for. But Mr Al- Mahfoudh that I had carpol tunnel in my right hand, that I was previously told by my own dr. That is was the effects from the stroke I had, I then had surgery on my hand for carpol tunnel, I now have 70% more use of my hand than I had before. I need surgery on my back, but I need to lose some weight to have this done, I feel more positive about what I have to do now to have the surgery I need, that was all down to the sensitivity that Mr Al Mahfoudh had given me. I received excellent communication from Mr Al-Mahfoudh and his personal assistant Rochelle Bye and I can not thank them enough.

I am so glad I was referred to Mr Al Mahfoudh. After weeks of extreme pain and limited movement in my back, my employer's private health plan provider put me in touch with him. He quickly diagnosed a wedge fracture of a vertebre, with a loss of 50%. In 2 weeks, I had a Kyphoplasty operation to build up the collapsed vertebrae, by minimally invasive surgery. Just 2 small incisions in my back and 1 night in hospital. My posture is corrected now and I'm in no pain, mobility is excellent. I'm taking it easy, following after-care instructions, wearing a back-brace for 6 weeks. The care and treatment I received from Mr Al Mahfoudh and his team is exemplary. Rochelle his PA has been on hand the whole time to organise everything and to answer my questions. I'd highly recommend Mr Al Mahfoudh to anyone. My osteopath told me when he heard I would be treated by him that could I not be in safer hands, which gave me total confidence.

Mr Al’ Mahfoudh has been brilliant through my journey of having a slipped disc. He has been communicative, responsive and kind and has always explained everything very well. I firstly had an injection which worked but only for a short time. I then had a microdistectomy at the wellington hospital and I can honestly say I have my life back after months of agonising and debilitating leg day that was constant every day. I am now in the most pain free and so happy! I would also like to say that Mr Al’Mahfoudhs secretary Rochelle has been amazing and gone above and beyond to support and look after me. I am very grateful to them both.

After many years (40) of increasingly debilitating lower back pain, which was then recently compounded by extreme leg pain, an initial decision was made to alleviate the symptoms with spinal injections. However, relief was very short-lived and so a joint decision was made for Mr Al-Mahfoudh to perform a Laminectomy in conjunction with a Microdiscectomy at L3/4 towards the end of March 2023. Such was the skill and expertise of the neurosurgery that relief was immediate, as I expected it would be. In other words, from day one I had an absolute and well founded confidence in Mr Al-Mahfoudh and his abilities and although he was very careful not to overpromise, he too was clearly pleased with the successful outcome within such a short recovery time span. A final word of praise for the whole team at Brighton Nuffield and in particular for PA Rochelle, who has been both extremely personable but more importantly has been a super efficient manager of the whole administration process.
