Mr Annis is in my opinion the very best and at the top of his field ! He gave me my life back after suffering a Lumbar one wedge fracture resulting in Kyphosis of the spine , then suffering further vertebral Lumbar fractures I was in so much pain , could hardly walk and was doubled over with a 60 % curve in my back and had suffered for 10 years. He was willing to take me on & Give me a chance of a better result . After very successful spine jack vertebroplasty at various lumbar levels , I am stronger more upright and gained height and had so much pain relief . He is always a joy to see with his pleasant manner and is very easy to talk to . The care I have had with Mr Annis has been at the highest professional level and I simply cant thank him enough !

I would like to say a massive thank you to Mr Annis. He is a wonderful surgeon who has given me back my life after 2 years of bilateral sciatica due to Spondylolisthesis for which I underwent a Mis-TLIF . I am now 10 weeks post op. Anyone considering having any form of back surgery is very scary, but you are honestly in the best hands with him. I am looking forward to life again after being very debilitated and sad with pain. So Mr Annis, in writing, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done for me.

I had been messed about for over five months with NHS hospitals,Mr Annis was recommended by a client of mine an appointment was made to see him and I had the appointment the next day.i had been in AGONY for five months a spinal injection was done within the hour but unfortunately it gave me no relief from severe sciatica pains down my leg. On my second visit Mr Annis said I needed an operation to remove a disc and have my spine fused this was arranged within two weeks the operation went very well I was back home the day after. My life has been transformed fully active again with no pain, back at work and enjoying life again. I cannot praise Mr Annis enough if you have a back problem go and see him he is superb and you will not see a better person. THAN YOU MR ANNIS.

#sayThankYou

I wanted to give a heart felt 'thank you' to you for seeing me so quickly and for arranging everything from the MRI to the operation. I can't thank you enough for fixing me (I can't think of a better term). I'm able to do everything I once could and I'm enjoying doing all the fun things I now can with my little children. I have so much appreciation and feel like I've been given my life back again. Thank you!

Spinal Surgeon in Liverpool - About Me
The Early Days
I was born in 1975 on the tiny, but beautiful, Greek island of Alonnissos in the Aegean Sea. I attended the island primary and secondary schools and successfully completed all the national examinations, allowing me to move to Abruzzo, Italy, where I entered the medical school at the Universita degli Studi G. d Annunzio and qualified as Doctor of Medicine and Surgery in 2000.

Discovering My Passion for Spinal Surgery
From Italy, I returned to Thessaloniki, Greece, to complete my surgical training and then spent a year of national service in the Greek army, providing expertise and support to the health service. In 2006, I undertook my initial training in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery in Asclepieion Hospital, a large and busy hospital with a long tradition in Orthopaedics, where I developed my passion for spinal surgery. During my residency I travelled to Salt Lake City, Utah, USA where I spent 6 months at the Spinal Department of University of Utah.
Becoming a Full-Fledged Spinal Surgeon
In 2011, I was awarded the specialty title in Orthopaedics and Trauma surgery and in the same year I returned to Utah to further specialise in spinal surgery. In the following 4 years I was entirely dedicated to further spinal training and research, focused on preventing complications in Adult Spinal Deformity. I published several peer-reviewed articles in internationally recognized scientific journals, presented my research findings at international conferences and contributed chapters to various books in established medical literature.
I was honoured to have my work recognised in 2012 by the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) with the famous Russel Hibbs Award. In my time in Utah I completed the AO Spine North America research fellowship and clinical spinal fellowship of the University of Utah under the guidance of Professor Darrel Brodke. I also had the privilege to gain experience in complex spinal surgery, from skull to pelvis, dealing with the full spectrum of spinal pathologies, including the highly complex conditions of ‘degenerative scoliosis’ and ‘fixed sagittal imbalance’.
I have had the privilege of maintaining my scientific links with the University of Utah as I hold an Honorary contract as Instructor of Orthopaedics and Spinal Surgery and I continue to work on numerous international spinal research projects.
Establishing My Practice in Liverpool
In 2014 I decided to return to Europe and in November 2014 I was appointed as spinal consultant at Royal University Hospital, Liverpool, where there is a wealth of expertise and experience, providing huge opportunities for me to further develop my career and is also strategically located to facilitate my professional research links between Europe, United States and, of course, my beloved homeland of Greece. It was here that I also opened my own private practice as a spinal surgeon in Liverpool.
Moving to Liverpool has brought about both professional and personal happiness. I am a passionate football fan who follows AEK Athens FC, although I regularly visit Anfield to watch Liverpool FC. I look forward to AEK and Liverpool meeting in the Champions League at some point in the future. Since arriving in Liverpool, we have been made to feel that we are part of a vibrant city with great culture and history. It is clear that Liverpool is a special city; a truly global city representing many different cultures whose people have made us, as a family, feel welcome and valued. I want to contribute to the city’s vision and future by being at the forefront of the spinal service of Merseyside, providing first class service for a first-class city.
