I have recently been a patient at York Nuffield Hospital. From my initial consultation through to my post-operative review I have been delighted and impressed by the care Mr Chitsabesan has given me. He always treated me with the upmost courtesy. He had a pleasant and cheerful disposition. He was very thorough in explaining my surgical options and any risks/side effects I might experience. I was very pleased with the surgery performed. The wound is neat and has healed well without any complications.

Mr Chitsabesan was kind, smiling and showed understanding. His examination was quick which was great, but afterwards I thought if he had taken more time, I would have done better in following his instruction during examination (as I was not sure I followed his instructions well when examining). Despite this, I trust his diagnosis/judgement. I felt that he was very knowledgeable, explained things in a very simple way for me to understand well. He gave me every day suggestions which I could do to improve my condition. He also thought about long-term implications of my condition. I asked my question a couple of times as I wanted to make sure that the tears have healed and he said that there was definitely a defect, but the main thing is that the muscle is not very strong. This answered half of my question so I asked again and he answered, but I still felt I was not 100% sure if my question was fully answered. It was disappointing to find out that if I had been seen earlier, maybe something could have been done to help with the defect, but due to the long waiting list, I was seen approximately 4 months after my referral. However, this is not a reflection on the doctor, more on the waiting times to see a consultant. Overall, a good experience and I felt that I was respected and heard at the appointment with Dr Chitsabesan.

I found when I met Mr Chitsabesan that he was easy to talk to and did listen. I was frightened to learn too much about the procedure so he didn't go into too much detail. Luckily it went well and I was only in hospital for a couple of days. I was given a leaflet on exercises and procedures to follow at home which was helpful. I feel very lucky to have had Mr Chitsabesan do the operation and am very grateful that he was able to carry it out so efficiently.
