Had pain for twenty plus years as a result of ankle injury during thirty years playing hockey and having both parents with arthritis. For years was told that I was too active and too young for surgery. Was finally agreed by NHS for ankle replacement in 2012 but had arthroscopy to delay procedure. Ankle replacement performed by Mr Pinak Ray in February 2017. Have had no pain whatsoever from time of administer of anaesthetic. Two weeks in plaster and five weeks in an "Aircast boot" and I am a new man. So strange not to have pain. I feel as if I can run. Have no suggestions of improvements after such a fantastic procedure by Mr Ray. Am still very active in the sport of bowls being President and Fixture secretary of a bowls club, and now I can participate in playing again.
Choosing to undergo surgery is never one to be taken lightly. Dr Ray ensures you are guided in your decision making with consummate professionalism, compassion and understanding. His friendly and engaging personality is extremely reassuring. My surgery was trouble free, achieving excellent results with no post op complications. I have no hesitation in recommending him to others.
I am now 72 and realise that I have had problems with both my ankles for probably 40years! sports injuries not treated and progressively as I got older arthritis setting in.
Finally they were so bad I admitted I needed an operation and am so grateful I was referred to Mr. Ray. Mr. Ray gave me the confidence to have full replacements on both ankles - the first ankle 3 years ago and then the other 2 years ago. From my first appointment to the last Mr. Ray was patient, courteous and kind. The operations have totally turned my life around. Now I do not suffer pain from either ankle - I had become so accustomed to the pain I had not realised how painful they had been! I am now so mobile I can walk for miles again and do so many things that before I either could not do or could only do with considerable pain. I will be eternally grateful to Mr. Ray.
The care and support offered by Dr Ray, especially after my operation was superb. He really cares about his patients and although he has a very busy schedule he makes time for them.
I have been dr Ray's patient for 6 years I have had 7 surgeys and some was not successful but dr ray never gave up until he made me feel better and stop all the pain on my right ankle he was very support and listen to my problems with the pain I kept on getting. Dr Ray has gave me so much moral support with everything and made me feel much more stronger in myself as I have lost out on many activitys I use to do I.e football and going to the gym. I dnt know how else to describe dr Ray he is one of the best doctors that has helped me in the hole of the U.K. I would recomend him to anybody in the world I hope him the best for the future and thank him so much for everything he has done for me means so much to me as a person he also had a great team at Barnet hospital which they support me with any equipment I need to help me with my right ankle God bless them all and especially dr ray thank you so much for everything you have done for me.
