I was diagnosed by this guy with a malignant, low grade tumour and the way he broke the news to me just 'beggared belief', so cavalier and matter of fact as though he was telling me I just had tonsillitis. This consultant urologist it would seem is a competent surgeon but lacks communication skills with his patients. In my experience of him, he only does half the job, carries out the medical procedures but then does not feel that he has any obligation or sense of responsibility to keep his patients 'in the loop' regarding their treatment. I was kept pretty much in the dark until I pushed to speak to him or someone that knew the details about my treatment plan on both the occasions of having the tumour removed...even then I initially spoke to his registrar, who did to be fair, fill in where Koenig lacked. But then when I saw Mr Koenig again for a routine appointment after waiting a considerable length of time to speak to him, upon trying to ask him for more information and alternative treatments if the cancer keeps growing back, he was very rude and disregarding and I was made to feel that I was a nuisance and he didn't have time for me and then he actually very dismissively rushed me out of the room and shut the doors...to say I was shocked and disgusted would be an understatement! This guy most definitely needs training in people skills and communication and taught about the importance of this aspect in regards to patient feedback because his attitude toward this is all wrong and highly inappropriate, he has absolutely no empathy, sensitivity or respect towards his patients. I have filed a complaint about this issue and requested another consultant, such was my disgust at the unacceptable way he treated me. I am writing this review because I want to warn others, as I wouldn't like to think of any one else having the same experience as I did.
