I went in to Castle Hill Hospital on the 2nd January 2014 for elective surgery under the care of Mr Jane. Following my original surgery I became unwell following a fall on the Ward. For what I know now, Mr Sedman performed life saving surgery on me after being rushed in to surgery with Sepsis, due to a ruptured bowel. Following spending 3 weeks in ICU in an induced coma, I was then stable enough to be moved to a ward. I spent my aftercare on Ward 10 which was second to none. I would receive regular visits from Mr Sedman or his registrar who would explain my treatment plan throughout my recovery until I was discharged by Mr Sedman on the 17th March 2014, some three and a half months later. I am still under the care of Mr Sedman and usually I see him every three to four months for a check up and a steroid injection into my abdomen because the Sepsis has left me with a number of medical conditions that requires me to attend appointment under different consultants at Castle Hill Hospital. I owe my life to Mr Sedman and his extremely professional team who always showed myself and my family respect and empathy, Mr Sedman even took the time to speak to my brother who lives in Essex that my wife requested to give Mr Sedman or his medical team permission to perform certain procedures, sometimes Mr Sedman would call my brother once he came home after a long hard day spent preforming surgery or clinics or both along with his other commitments. I could go on and on praising this man for who that I’m alive today. Thank you Mr Sedman I will always be truly grateful for being in the hospital on that day I needed him and his skills to save my life and give back my wife her husband, my daughter her father and my brother his brother back.
