Mr Catarina is a superb surgeon. Three years ago I had a complex problem (congenital heart disease only discovered when in my 40’s). I needed to have some very difficult surgery and was one of the first in the UK to have the surgery. I visited St Barts, St Thomas’ London Bridge and Harley Street to find a surgeon that could do the operation. All the surgeons I spoke to said they would ‘give it a go’, all had different ways to tackle the problem, but I felt that none of the surgeons really cared about me. Then I found Mr Catarino at the Papworth hospital. He was friendly, caring, professional, measured, understanding and extremely focused on new but safe techniques. He has a superb track record and I had no doubt that he was the best person for the surgery. (Incidentally Harley Street was the worst by far!!) Anyway three years on and I’m still here. The operation was difficult and recovery is long, but I have no doubt that I went to the best person. I cannot commend him enough.

Amazing surgeon. Operated on my uncle . He explained the procedure to my uncle very well. The operation went very well and now my 78 year old uncle is fully active . I shall strong recommend this doctor to anyone .He is the best in his field .
