I am very grateful to have been referred to Charing Cross Breast Services where I saw Mr Thiruchelvam at my biopsy results appointment. I have a complex health history with chronic conditions, so had a lot of important questions regarding treatment options and things that needed to be considered. Despite it being a very short appointment, he was generous in answering my questions and was clearly very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, due to the busyness of the NHS list my follow up and subsequent surgery would not have been with him if I had stayed in the NHS. After a bit of research, I contacted Mr Thiruchelvam’s practice manager (Michelle) to explore an option to see him privately. She was extremely helpful, and I saw him for a private consultation a week later. Mr Thiruchelvam spent the time to explain my treatment options, answered all my questions and demonstrated a lot of care, expertise, and empathy. It is very hard to navigate a health system and pathway as a patient, and you need to feel empowered, listened to and supported. I felt this from Michelle and Mr Thiruchelvam throughout the process. I had my surgery on the 15th of September at King Edward VII hospital. It was a significant investment, which I am grateful to have been able to choose, but the best decision. Mr Thiruchelvam is obviously extremely busy but takes the time to speak to you several times pre-surgery, went out of his way to answer specific questions in relation to my pre-existing conditions, and brought a very experienced anaesthetist (Dr Poncia) into the team who was also extremely kind, professional, and made me feel like I was in very safe hands. The cancer specialist nurses (Helen and Amelia) have been great and continue to support post-surgery, and the nurses on the ward at King Edward VII hospital were amazing in their kindness and support through my overnight stay. I am still in recovery but can’t believe the results of the surgery. The aesthetic results are beyond my expectations. Mr Thiruchelvam got all the cancer out and his expertise in lymph saving surgery, meant I only had 2 nodes taken. I have had a lot of experience with healthcare professionals in the mainstream healthcare system, which has not always been positive. Mr Thiruchelvam has restored my faith in senior healthcare professionals. He is clearly professionally excellent, but also takes you seriously as a patient, doesn’t patronise you, listens, and has a high standard for quality care and outcomes.

I would thoroughly recommend Mr Paul Thiruchelvam, I met him after my diagnosis for Breast Cancer at Charing Cross hospital, he was incredibly compassionate and explained my diagnosis in detail. I am fortunate enough to have Medical insurance with work, and so decided to follow that route and continued my treatment at King Edward VII and the London clinic, he was extremely thorough and following a PET CT scan discovered other cancerous tumours, to this I will be very grateful that Paul left no stone unturned. He and Mr Aadil Khan performed my Mastectomy and breast reconstruction, and the surgery, aftercare and results are amazing , and I am truly grateful to both consultants.

Paul has to be the finest in his field and I cannot recommend him highly enough. He is straight talking whilst caring and sympathetic and couples this with good humour; which is exactly what I needed. Throughout my journey so far I have felt like I am in the best professional hands possible. I would also like to mention his excellent team from his superb PA, Michelle, to the breast care nurse Helen Ford and countless other back up staff such as the nurses, Neil and everyone else at KE7 and Chiswick HEC

An outstanding surgeon and lovely person who really cares about his work & his patients. I was his patient initially in the NHS and opted for my surgery privately but was treated by him with equal consideration in both settings. Extremely experienced & knowledgeable sharing his knowledge and my diagnosis with me along the way step by step without overwhelming me. He made sure I fully explored all options before I opted for a simple single mastectomy without reconstruction & I couldn’t have wished for a better outcome/ aesthetic closure. In the NHS at Imperial he has an amazing team of breast care nurses who are dedicated & compassionate. On the private side he is supported by a most competent Practice Manager, Michelle who co-ordinates & communicates seamlessly taking so much stress out of the whole journey. I am forever in his debt.

I really do not know where to begin with this but I was completely shocked, overwhelmed and anxiety ridden when I was diagnosed with grade one invasive breast cancer after being recalled following a routine mammogram as part of the NHS breast screening service. Following an ultrasound and biopsy, I was placed under the care of Mr. Paul Thiruchelvam and his team. Paul explained the findings of the biopsy result and completely reassured me that what I had was very treatable. On a personal level, I reacted very badly to the fact I was diagnosed with cancer and I went through a huge emotional roller coaster believing that I could manage health without ever going through surgery in my entire life. I recognised I was catastrophising! I was treated swiftly and feel lucky to have been offered a short notice availability for my surgery. On the day of the surgery even though I was unsure about my procedure and extremely frightened of anesthesia. I was very professionally and carefully advised about my surgical option of a therapeutic wise pattern mammoplasty with sentinel lymph node biopsy. Despite my extreme nervousness, I was treated with utmost patience, respect and professionalism by Paul and his colleague Amy. Although I was fearful about undergoing surgery, I knew I was in very good hands. I had my surgery on 12 September 2023 and was looked after very well. I am pleased the cancer has been removed and with the overall result and I am recovering. Whilst I am still waiting for my biopsy result, I shall always and forever be grateful for the kindness and patience of Paul Thiruchelvam and his amazing team. I just wish to say thank you for putting up with my extreme anxiety and providing the best treatment and care. God bless.
