The fact that I take warfarin caused unusual bleeding.Apart from that I was pleased with the final result
I received excellent treatment and was treated with kindness and respect. Before the procedure, even though the clinic was running very late, the surgeon was happy to answer questions and explained fully what he was going to do. During the procedure I felt confident I was in safe hands - the doctor told me exactly what he was doing and what to expect.
Mr Drake was reassuring and helpful before and throughout the procedure, explaining everything clearly and patiently answering questions as I asked them.
The procedure itself was carried out quickly and efficiently and it was done so neatly that the wound is healing very well. The other staff present were also helpful and reassuring throughout and I am grateful to them for making it an easy process.
Mr Drake wrote to me recently to tell me that ,following his incision on my nose to remove a cancerous black spot, the histology report showed no residual melanoma.
Joyful news indeed.
Mr Drake is a no nonsense Scot. He tells you like it is. His operation on me was conducted under a local anaesthetic which means that to add to his burdens, he has to talk to the patient while he is carrying out quite tricky manoeuvres with sharp implements. He did all this with good grace. His skills were apparent to me then and now that I have emerged from it all with a clean bill of health and a scar that is barely visible I feel that he has done a very good job indeed. I was very lucky to have him.
The treatment was excellent. Brian is 89 and registered blind but everything was explained beforehand and everyone could not have been more caring and helpful as well as very professional. Superb stitching and the wound healed quickly and there is hardly a scare.
The follow -up letters were very helpful and we are so appreciative of the treatment Brian received at Brighton General Hospital.
