I went to this doctor because of what I thought was a perianal abscess, but instead of performing a thorough examination, he did a test in which he found some small hemorrhoids and assumed that was causing the pain I had been feeling. To make long story short, I continue having that pain after the surgery to remove the hemorrhoids, and that was when he discovered that I had a fistula, right in the area I had been feeling the pain. Maybe eventually I would have had to have the hemorrhoids removed anyway, but that was not the pressing issue at the time.
