Having problems with breathlessness and swollen legs I underwent a number of tests at the NGH which showed that I needed a replacement aortic valve. Mr. Briffa was particularly concerned with the condition of my heart and arranged to operate within three weeks of my appointment with him. The operation has been a tremendous success and resolved problems which have probably existed for some years. The suggestion that my heart should start to return to normal appears to be proving correct and I am extremely grateful to Mr. Briffa and all the team at the Northern General Hospital.

After undergoing a triple heart by-pass performed by Mr Briffa and his excellent team, I have nothing but praise for the care, skills and attention bestowed upon me before, during and after my stay at the Northern General. I cannot praise you and your staff enough, and now I am back at home running the farm as before. Keep up the good work!

The treatment I received wasexcellent from admission to discharge. I was very impressed by the treatment I got from the doctord and nursing staff. The pre assessment clinic and pre and post classes were extremely informative and were an important part of the procedure. Follow up with cardiac nurses, is a must, due to the early discharge times. Overall it has been a satisfactory experience where the Trust has looked after my illness very quickly and professionally.

Pre-operative care very good ,all staff attentive and informative.As a woman it would have been helpful to talk with a female former patient as post-operative issues might be different especially in the sternal area. ITU care was excellent for patient and family. Post -op care in ward satisfactory but not up to pre-op standards. Physiotherapy minimal, more would have been appreciated. Generally very satisfied and recovering well.Much appreciate what has been done and would recommend to others. Wounds healed well no infections. Mr Briffas attention throughout has been exemplary.
