I recently received hernia surgery by Mr De' Liguori Carino. The procedure was carefully explained to me and options were discussed in the initial consultation. On the day of surgery Mr De' Liguori Carino and his team were excellent in preparing me for the procedure, making me feel comfortable and confident in going ahead. Post surgery Mr De' Liguori Carino advised me clearly on my recovery. I would highly recommend Mr Nicola De' Liguori Carino for general surgery.

My name is John holehouse and I live in the Hull University Teaching Hospitals area of the NHS. In May of this year I was taken ill, after referral I was admitted to Scarborough hospital were I had a MRI and CT Scans and then sent home, a week later I had a PET scan and later a biopsy of a lymph node at Castle Hill Hospital. I was then diagnosed with Gallbladder and Lymph node cancer. I then had an appointment with a surgeon at Castle Hill hospital and I was told I had a non operative cancer and my only option was Chemotherapy, which would not cure but would only hold the cancer back giving me only a few more weeks of life. As a family we could not except this, so my daughter and granddaughter went on to the Internet to research the cancer which I had been diagnosed with and to hopefully find a surgeon for a second opinion. They eventually came upon Mr Nicola de Liguori Carino who is an expert in my type of cancer. They made an appointment to see him in his surgery at the Alexandre Hospital in Manchester. On looking at the results of the scans and biopsy he decided in his and his teams opinion my cancer was operable. After a upto date CT scan Mr Carino operated on me in August 2022 removing my Gallbladder 3 lymph nodes and a liver resection. The operation was done at the Manchester Royal infirmary under the NHS, I spent a week in hospital and then went home to complete my recovery. Me and my family cannot thank Mr Carino and his team enough and will always be grateful for giving me my life back. He is not only a brilliant surgeon but also a very nice and humble man, who showed me nothing but compassion and empathy throughout my difficult journey. What me and my family cannot understand is that Manchester NHS Trust through Mr Carino could operate on my cancer and give me life ,yet my local NHS Trust wouldn't operate and gave me a terminal diagnosis we a maximum of 12 months to live I writing this to hopefully give hope to others who may have none like I did ,I am now having mild chemotherapy as a extra precaution and doing well and looking forward to the future, All thanks to Mr Nicola de Liguori Carino and his excellent team. Thank you John and family

I was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer in August 2021 and was referred to Christie’s where I received 12 cycles of chemotherapy starting 23rd October 2021. I responded well to treatment and was informed that the tumour had shrunk and that there was a possibility of surgery to remove the tumour. I met Mr de’Ligouri Carino on the 9th May 2022 to discuss having a Whipple operation which he explained involves the removal of the head of the pancreas, part of the bile duct, the gall bladder, the small bowel and part of the stomach and then rejoin the remaining pancreas, bile duct and stomach to another part of the small bowel. He explained fully and clearly the procedure to me, listening and answering reassuringly any concerns I voiced and making sure I understood completely what would happen. He explained the aim of surgery would be to cure but if the tumour was found to be unresectable at the time of surgery irreversible electroporation(IRE) would be considered to which he went into detail about. He also discussed all the associated risks of surgery, again patiently taking time to be sure I fully understood. He then asked me if I would like to go ahead with the operation and I immediately answered yes feeling very confident to be under his care. On the 10th June 2022 I underwent a nine hour operation and the surgery could not have gone any better. Mr de’Liguori had managed to remove everything and the next morning I was out of bed sat up in a chair ! I had several consultations with Mr de’Liguori after the operation and his support was excellent. I would not hesitate in recommending him, he is a caring and brilliant surgeon.

I was diagnosed with bowel cancer with liver metastasis in April 21 and underwent 14 rounds of chemotherapy to which I responded well and was given the option of surgery for a liver resection. That is when I met Mr Nicola De'Liguori-Carino he explained the procedure very clearly to me and took his time to make sure I understood what was going to happen. The surgery went very well and Mr De'Liguori removed the right side of my liver and also 3 legions on my left side 2 of which were not cancerous. I was in hospital for 5 days then discharged to recuperate at home. The only constructive suggestion I could make is that I would of liked a little more of Mr De'Liguori's time after surgery to explain in more detail how the surgery had gone, I spoke to Mr De'Liguori twice after surgery for less than 1 minute each time he just seemed to be in a rush and I do take on board doctors are very busy people. I would also like to say that Mr De'Liguori did ring me some weeks after surgery to see how I was doing and explained that the cancer cells he removed were all dead so that more than made up for not speaking to him very much after surgery.
