Having been rushed to A&E in January with immense pain in the abdomen, I was diagnosed with severe cholecystitis and it was obvious that I would need to have my gallbladder removed. It was recommended that i should consult Mr Nicola de'Liguori Carino at the BMI in Cheadle. An appointment was made quickly and he explained clearly how the operation would take place and what the possible dangers and side effects would be. I had to wait for the inflammation of gallbladder to reduce before the op could be performed but even so I was scanned and booked in for surgery within 4 weeks. The operation was a straight forward keyhole process with just 3 small incisions and i went home the same day. I found Mr De'Liguori to be at all times courteous, understanding, thorough and completely professional, and I felt extremely lucky to be in his care. The other staff at BMI were also fantastic at all times. Mr De'Liguori called me 4 weeks after the operation with genuine concern that all was well with my health. I have had no side effects since the operation and have returned to a normal life and diet. I feel extremely fortunate to have received the care that I did.

I was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine cancer at the end of February before I came under Mr De' Liguori's care. He saw me at a consultation which was arranged very quickly and explained the suggested operation ( a whipple's procedure) in a calm clear and reassuring way. I had a number of questions including whether or not alternative, less invasive, procedures might be appropriate and he was able to deal with these questions in a way which was clear and simple for a lay person to understand. I underwent the operation within days and he kept me and my partner closely informed - in person and by phone - and the operation went very well. My progress post-operatively has been good. I have nothing but the highest praise for this surgeon. I was at all stages entirely confident in his ability and trusted him completely.

I was referred to Mr De Ligouri on the 24/2/20 with a very enlarged spleen. I had undergone 6 months of chemotherapy for Lymphoma in my spleen and bone marrow at the beginning of January 2019 From my very first appointment with Mr De Ligouri I felt reassured and confident that I would receive the best of care, he explained everything about the procedure and was clear and direct and gave me time to ask questions, raise any fears I had and I felt part of the whole process. I was admitted to ward 7 the hepatobiliary + pancreatic surgical ward on 25/2/20 whilst on the ward I received the highest level of care from Mr De Ligouri and all his team of Drs, AlisonMaugham my specialist nurse, all the nursing staff, care workers, ward clerk and housekeeping staff, dieticians and physio’s. Everyone was always professional and caring. I cannot thank Mr De Ligouri enough for his surgical skills and the care I received. Sincerely Susan Harrison

After being hospitalised twice for severe cholecystitis I knew that I would need to have my gallbladder removed. I did a lot of research to find the best surgeon in my area and decided to consult Mr De' Liguori Carino. I had two consultations with him and a MRI scan. I found him to be very professional, respectful and reassuring. Surgery was scheduled quickly and I was able to choose the most convenient time and place for me. The operation was a laparoscopic cholecystectomy and it went very smoothly, despite my gallbladder being very inflamed. Mr De' Liguori came to see me before I went down to theatre and again after the operation when he was able to reassure me that all went well. I am now 5 weeks post op and so impressed by how quickly I recovered. My scars are fully healed and virtually invisible. I am eating normally and doing all my normal activities including walking up hills in the Lake District where I live. I am sure that this is due to the skill and expertise of my surgeon and I am so glad I found him! Due to Covid 19 a follow up appointment was impossible but Mr De' Liguori telephoned me instead and answered any questions I had. I know that cholecystectomy is a fairly routine operation compared to most of the surgery that Mr De'Liguori Carino carries out but he clearly explained the potential risks so that I was fully informed, and I felt that he completely understood that for me this was a very challenging experience. I recommend him wholeheartedly to any person who is unfortunate to be suffering from gallbladder disease. In my opinion he is an excellent surgeon and very kind and compassionate. I couldn't have wished for better care.
