I was seen by Dr Stylianides at Spire Manchester as a result of ongoing post operative pain. I underwent an open appendectomy abroad (in Iran) in June 2022 and was suffering from severe abdominal pain at the site of the surgery for over a year. I had visited multiple Doctors both in Iran and was under observation by the general surgeons after being admitted in Salford Royal Hospital in November 2022. Most doctors who had consulted me disregarded the pain as being stress related / psychological. I had been told by various doctors that maybe i have a possible hernia / ovarian cyst which was causing the pain. After undergoing multiple scans (CT/ MRI/ X-rays / Ultrasounds) i was told everything was clear and that there was no cause for concern . For over a year i was admitted in various hospitas in Iran and the Uk, during my stay i was given morphine and tramadol tablets to help with the pain and was told upon my discharge at salford Royal that i would be referred to the pain management team. After this i decided to be seen privately by a pain management specialist Dr Aseeri who consulted me after i was discharged. He suggested that i go down the route of physiotherapy as the site of surgery was very sensitive to touch and said it would not be appropriate to inject steroids. After a few weeks of phsyiotherapy and desensitisation of the scar tissue i returned to Dr Aseeri to have my first steroid injection in January 2023 . After having this the pain settled for a few weeks &during this time i returned to Iran. After a few weeks i noticed the pain had returned and was much more severe than previously. I visited multiple hospitals in iran and was told it was psychology and was due to the stress of my studies as a medical student. During this time i had multiple episodes where i had become unconscious from the severity of the pain and had close friends call emergency services. A few weeks after suffering from the pain & consulting multiple doctors in iran who all gave various diagnoses, i decided it was appropriate to return to the UK to seek private treatment. Upon my return i had to visit the A&E department at Salford Royal which deemed to be useless as i was given anti spasmodics by the doctor and told to go home regardless of the severity of the pain i was suffering. I made Another visit a few days later where i was referred to the general surgeons under investigation as my infection markers were raised. However i was soon discharged from here as my ultrasound scan came back normal. After some thorough research i found some reveiews online about Dr Stylianides and decided to arrange a consultation to discuss my pain. Dr Stylianides listened to my concerns & decided it was best to have an MRI and then discuss any surgical options. Eventually after multiple consulatations we decided to proceed with a diagnostic laproscopy as my case my unusual and Dr Stylianides discussed all the risks / complications of the procedure and ensured i was happy to go ahead with this. Post surgery, Dr Stylianides came to see me to discuss the surgery findings which i was dleighted to hear that he had found two large adhesions below the surgery scar which were causing the severe abdominal pain. I cant thank Dr Stylianides and the team at Spire Manchester enough for their patience whilst dealing with my case as well as the excellent service they provided ! My whole surgery experience was excellent & recovery post surgery only took 1 week ! Dr Stylianides and his team have truly given me my life/normality back ! This truly was a life changing experience and im so so grateful to everyone who helped me on this journey to recovery ! I cant recommend Dr Stylianides enough for being such a compassionate doctor who always had a smile on his face and always staying positive and understanding my concerns ! He truly has been an inspirational doctor for me as a medical student!

Mr Stylianides was friendly and made me feel at home. Although he has a busy schedule he fitted me in quickly. He listened to and helped me with associated problems. He came highly recommended, a reputation he lived up to.

Mr Stylianides is an excellent doctor. He saved my life! He performed emergency surgery to remove my false teeth from my colon which had previously been ignored by other Dr in the prior months. He acted with professionalism and diligence. He also made the decision not to give me a stoma bag due to my healthy lifestyle which was an excellent result. The follow up appointment was reassuring to know I had healed well and ongoing discomfort is quite normal for 12 months. He was friendly, approachable and extremely talented
