Mr Rath was absolutely brilliant, he explained everything that he found from the MRI scan, explained about how surgery would help and that he would be doing the operation, he kept myself and my wife at ease at all times. On the day of the surgery he spent time talking and explaining again what was going to happen, after the operation he phoned my wife to put her at ease, whilst in hospital he kept in regular contact with me.

3 years on , my name is Steven Brayley . Back in 2019 I was diagnosed with my spinal cord trapped in three places, my vertebra collapsed in my neck ( excuse my lack of medical terminology) . My Energy levels at zero , my body functions totally ad normal . My initial diagnosis being conducted by Dr Dinish Damodaran ( a great neurologist ) he referred me to Mr Rath who absolutely took care of me , put me at ease and truly cares for his patients . I always remember, having my operation on the Friday , he came to see me personally on his Sunday off when he should be with his family . Today 6/07/23 I met Dr Damodaran who checked me over , he was amazed with my progress from when he diagnosed me , all functions normal . Thank you to these true gentleman who genuinely cared and got me back to a normal life . Thank you Steve

My problems started in September 2018 with a bad case of sciatica. Over the next 8 months there followed all sorts of treatments: acupuncture, Thai massage, chiropractic and many sessions of physiotherapy and osteopathy, none of which seemed to help, until a very experienced sports osteopath told me that I had almost certainly got a compressed disc and there would probably be little anyone could do for me via any sort of manipulation. I made a private appointment with Mr Rath in August 2019, he arranged an MRI scan (on the NHS) within a month and this confirmed that I did indeed have a bulging disc which was causing my pain by pressing on my sciatic nerve. At this point, I was able to manage my pain with regular paracetamol/ibuprofen and whilst I was able to do this, I didn’t feel the need for surgery. I lead a very active life, at 65 I was attending HIIT cardio, circuit training and weights classes 4 or 5 times a week and also ran 2 movement to music classes a week for senior ladies. I was worried that I may not be able to continue to do these things if I had surgery. My condition was regularly monitored over the telephone by Mr Rath’s clinic and a further MRI in February 2021 showed my condition was still about the same. This continued until July 2021 when I lifted a barbell awkwardly to move it and felt excruciating pain down my sciatic nerve which rendered me unable to do very much for a few weeks. I had tried a nerve root block at some point in my treatment plan which didn’t give me any relief and in August 2021 I had another MRI which showed my condition was now at the point where surgery would be beneficial and my operation was booked with Mr Rath to do an Endoscopic decompression and discectomy in February 2022, on the NHS. I was able to walk unaided immediately afterwards and had I not lived a 2-hour drive from the hospital, would have probably been able to go home the same day. I was very careful for the next few weeks where exercise was concerned and resumed more strenuous activities after 3 months. I am now 1 year and 4 months post op, have a much greater range of movement in my previously affected leg and am back to my full range of exercise classes, aged 69. I am very grateful to Mr Rath for his intervention. I felt very confident in Mr Rath’s ability to make me whole again, he listened to what I hoped to achieve as an outcome and reassured me that my quality of life should be greatly improved. I felt I mattered as a patient and could not have been happier with the care I received. I would urge anyone with a similar condition to take the plunge and place your trust in Mr Rath, you will not be disappointed! Now if only Mr Rath did knees………..

I can’t thank Mr Rath enough for his kindness and care during a very difficult time in my life which was incredibly debilitating. Mr Rath listened carefully to me and me symptoms after I experienced horrific pain for a significant period of time which had been dismissed by the NHS. From the moment I met Mr Rath for my consultation he put my mind at ease and I instantly knew that he was highly competent, and I trusted him. Mr Rath performed my spinal surgery at the Nuffield Chester Hospital. He kept me informed and I knew exactly what was going to be happening to me and when. I believe that Mr Rath sincerely cares about each and every one of his patients. I certainly felt this from start to finish of my treatment. I found him to have a fantastic sense of humour too which certainly helped during a challenging and painful time. Mr Rath truly goes above and beyond to ensure that his patients are well supported and cared for – wellbeing is paramount to him! I can’t thank Mr Rath enough for listening to me and helping me to get my pain free life back. I am well on the way to recovery thanks to him!
