I recently had spinal decompression surgery under the care of Mr Rath. I had suffered with sciatica for several years and the last bout beginning in June 2024 would not subside. I couldn't sit for long and couldn't drive. Mr Rath requested x-ray and MRI, even after 6 months the MRI showed active nerve compression at L5 and S1. It is now 2 months since surgery and I'm recovering well. I still have a little leg pain and numbness but I was told to expect this. It is nothing like it was , and I know it only improve with time, and I drive again. Mr Rath was very pleasant, friendly and explained everything to me pre and post surgery. I would recommend this type of endoscopic surgery, much quicker recovery time. My only slight niggle is that I would have liked an indebth patient leaflet regarding the procedure. Other than that, no complaints. My advice to any one considering this surgery, is go for it with Mr Rath. You won't find better. The staff at the Spire Wrexham were also very friendly and attentive. I had an endoscopic decompression for a radiculopathy, which had caused me severe pain and loss of movement with an inability to walk far or sit for nearly 2years. Mr Rath was very clear on what he could do for me, ie remove the pain in my lower leg and enable me to increase my walking by relieving the claudication. I recovered quickly after the surgery which involves an overnight stay. At three weeks post op I was walking over a mile and sleeping very well. My lower leg nerve pain is vastly reduced and I can now cope with standing to cook and other everyday activities. At six weeks post op I have walked over two miles and feel I am making great progress in my fitness and reducing my pain medication. Thank goodness for this surgery. It has given me my life back

I had ACDF C4-6 surgery for Myelopathy with Mr Rath 9th November 24. I had rapid onset of symptoms from the end of august 24, starting with lower back pain then walking with a limp and loss of balance and some numbness in little finger, and ring finger When this didn’t improve I got a full spine MRI which diagnosed Myelopathy. I can’t stress the importance of getting a WHOLE spine MRI as I had no neck pain at the beginning and thought the issue was lower back. We then looked for a surgeon and decided to book a consultation with Mr Rath. When we saw Mr Rath my symptoms had rapidly deteriorated my left leg was numb and almost paralysed I had could do a little walking on a walking frame. but mostly in a wheelchair, my left arm and hand also was very weak. Mr Rath acted quickly and booked my surgery. There was no guarantees of getting my mobility back as operation is to stop progression. My care was amazing before surgery, during my stay in hospital after surgery, and after care. Just had my six week check, Mr Rath’s face was a huge smile when I walked UNAIDED into his office. I still have a way to go but I’m so happy at 48 I didn’t want to walk with a cane! The surgery wasn’t painful for me just some aching and I have a tiny scar which looks like a scratch! Lastly Mr Rath is such a lovely person and will make you feel at ease. I can’t recommend him enough I have my life back! Thank you so much. Angela Hudson

Mrbrath explained everything in great detail everytime i went to see him prior to my operation and always asked if i undestood or wanted to ask anything. Nothing was a problem to him while treating me. I had a spinal issue and effected the right arm as the damaged disc was putting pressure on the nerve. I didnt umderstand how back pain could effect the arm but mr rath quickly explained to me how this worked. On the day of the operation mr rath was the first pearson i saw and he made me feel at ease when i saw him explaining the procedure again so i understood what was happening. The operation was succesful and on the same day i had no pain on my right arm. After the operation mr rath came to see me a couple of hours later to see how i was gettring on and he phoned later that night to see if i was ok. The day after mr rath was on his day off but he came in to see me and let me go home. If i ever had spinal issues again i would 100% go to mr rath! No question about it! He amd his team are fantastic
