My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, aged 80. She was a patient at Ealing Hospital and her named consultant was Mr Naim Kadoglou. I was present when the diagnosis was given to my mother and myself by Mr Kadoglou who explained the treatment plan in such a clear, calm and reassuring way that we did not become upset because we immediately felt my mother's care had been placed in safe hands. Mr Naim Kadoglou did an excellent lumpectomy operation in October 2011 which was followed by radiotherapy. On discharge from Ealing Hospital, Mr Kadoglou gave me his home email and mobile number and told me to contact him immediately at any time, if there was ever any emergency. No medical professional has ever voluntarily given us their out of hours contact details during more than 50 years of care on the NHS, such was the dedication of Mr Kadoglou to the care and well being of his patient. Over the following five years, I attended all my mother's annual check ups with Mr Kadoglou until she was given the "all clear" and fully discharged. Again, every consultation was detailed and thorough so that we always returned home feeling confident and reassured. Subsequently, in March 2015, my mother was admitted as an emergency with severe abdominal pain to Ealing Hospital which was diagnosed as acute pancreatitis and gall bladder. Mr Kadoglou happened to be on call/duty that day and he immediatetly arranged for the necessary specialist team to take over my mother's care. Her condition was critical in ICU but the prompt action of Mr Kadoglou helped to save her life when I had been advised that the next 72 hours would decide her prognosis. My mother is now 87 years old and getting on with life. We both feel that my mother has been extremely fortunate to have had such wonderful care and attention from an immensely dedicated, kind and experienced professional as Mr Naim Kadoglou, without whose care and expertise my mother may well not still be with us today. We are both most grateful to him and respect him very much, not just as a very competent consultant surgeon but also as a most decent, caring human being. From the first hand experience of my mother and myself, we highly recommend Mr Kadoglou for his professional expertise and experience, dedication and understanding.

Mr. Kadoglu went above and beyond in my personal care. Due to a mistake by my previous medical team whereby a breast tumour was misdiagnosed as a cyst, my tumour was left to grow for 12 months (as I was under the impression it was not a threat). Once I was referred again to a breast surgeon I ended up under Mr. Kadoglu’s care. Upon finding out about my situation he went beyond the call of duty in order to organise the best and fastest possible treatment plan for me. Within 2 weeks I was undergoing chemotherapy, and had a mastectomy operation scheduled in for the following months. Mr. Kadoglu also had great consideration for my feelings regarding my looks for after the operation. At the time I was completely unconcerned with how I might look after the operation, and was completely happy living without a breast - I simply wanted to survive this ordeal. However Mr. Kadoglu’s experience with previous patients meant he recommended for me to have a reconstructive breast operation. Now that I am fully recovered from the cancer and the operation, I can very clearly feel the benefits that having a reconstructed breast has bestowed upon me. I am more confident, and my quality of life after the illness is vastly improved compared to what it would have been. But as always, the most important thing was for me to be rid of the cancer that was left to grow for so long. Something Mr. Kadoglu put all of his effort into pursuing, and thankfully managed to achieve. I could not thank him enough for rectifying such a horrible situation.

Hi,I was diagnosed breast cancer in May 2017,I had all my treatment from start to end in Ealing hospital and my general surgeon is Mr.Naim Kadoglou.I find it very confused what I read a previous review of a patient about her experience in just 10-15minutes with Mr.Kadoglou.How is it possible to make that much bad criticism about a general surgeon?!It doesn’t seem to me realistic to analysis a surgeon within just 10-15 minutes. As a patient diagnosed with breast cancer I am very grateful to Mr.Kadoglou.He is a very caring and patient doctor,he listened me all the time and answered all my questions in details during my appointments with him.He had a great support to me as a patient from start to the end of my treatment.He did a very successful operation after chemotherapies and the result of biopsy is complete pathological response.I recommend him to all patients who are diagnosed with breast cancer.He is a great doctor as a surgeon.I will never ever forget his support and his positive impact during my journey in Ealing hospital.

I was a patient diagnosed with breast cancer at Ealing Hospital. I was a mother of a 3yr old and a 6yr old. During the appointment when Mr Kadoglou had to tell me the most devastating news I have ever received - that I had breast cancer - our discussion was interrupted 3 times by nurses entering the room, looking for a diary or some seemingly vital files. At no point did he prevent their entry or ask them to leave. He then told me repeatedly "I know how you feel". You may be a surgeon, Mr Kadoglou, BUT YOU DEFINITELY DO NOT KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO BE ME - MOTHER OF 2 SMALL BOYS, WHO IS BEING TOLD SHE HAS BREAST CANCER!! He then proceeded to speak very fast in acronyms and jargon, which I could not grasp in my confusion at the news he had so clumsily given me. His English was also a little patchy, which did not help my understanding. When I asked a few questions to clarify what would happen next, he began to talk to my partner rather than to me. I found Mr Kadoglou to be unbelievably patronising and unclear in his explanations. It is so destabilising to have a cancer diagnosis and I can not imagine how I could have gone through the whole process of surgery, adjuvant therapies and the subsequent check-ups under the supposed "care" of this man. Needless to say I sought a second opinion (which is everyone's right under the NHS, by the way) and ended up going to Guys Hospital, where my experience could not have been more opposite. They re-performed all my examinations and scans which, although tedious and time-consuming, were reassuring in the end. My experience at every appointment and meeting was a gentle and caring one. My surgeon at Guys at first meeting told me to tell him my story from the start and that he had "all the time in the world". I told him everything and cried and was allowed to take my time and feel what I (YES, ME!!) felt. I was in safe hands at last. And that holistic and deep sense of caring continued throughout my cancer journey. He NEVER told me he knew how I felt. Not once. And certainly not MORE THAN ONCE!! I hate to be disparaging about a medical professional, but I can not recommend Mr Kadoglou. He simply does not understand peoples' vulnerability at such a stressful time.
