I had a thorough consultation with Dr Anjarwalla who took plenty of time to run through the options with me and their relative risks. This gave me the information I needed to weigh up different levels of intervention. These range from "do nothing" through a spinal injection 20% chance of long term fix up to a spinal operation with a better than 50% outcome over a 10 year period with a 3-4% chance of a life changing accidental nerve (or other) damage. In all cases, my problems cannot be proven to be caused by the cyst he showed me on the MRI but probably are. Also, he was clear that he might remove the cyst in an operation but not the underlying cause. So, it is not what I wanted to hear or see but it was very clear and factual.

I had a lumbar decompression surgery at L2/L3 & disc discectomy at Wexham Park Hospital with Dr Naffis Anjarwalla. After this operation I was initially paralysed due to something going wrong in the operation, I personally thought this Surgeon made a mistake during the procedure & I spent eight months in hospital undergoing rehabilitation. The back operation I had was the most basic back operation & he worked below the spinal cord yet this surgeon has caused myself permeant nerve damage in my right leg where I suffer from foot drop, right knee weakness, right hamstrings weakness & general weakness in right leg , thus leaving myself crippled. Also my left foot has nerve damage where I have had to have four toes fused to stop them bending & I am due another left foot operation as three toes are getting bent. Also my feelings in both legs & feet are poor due to sensory nerve damage. The incredible thing is there was no complications during this operation & yet I have life changing injuries which I cannot understand if the operation went correctly so it is obvious my injuries are caused by my surgeon failing to do the procedure correctly. The hospital & the surgeon do not accept any liability & be warned if you have an operation & it goes wrong you will suffer the rest of your life & you will get no recourse they just abandon you.

Rude non caring incompetent also rude to staff in clinic.I felt totally unsatisfied with the consultation and the dismissive way I was treated. I will be making a formal complaint.
