Mr Nadim Aslam

Mr Nadim Aslam is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital NHS Trust in Worcester. He completed his specialist orthopaedic training at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford which is a world-renowned centre of excellence. Mr Aslam has extensive experience in all aspects of knee and hip surgery including arthroscopy and arthroplasty work. His main interest includes primary and revision arthroplasty of the knee and hip.

Having worked with some of the foremost authorities in this field in Oxford, he undertook fellowship training in knee surgery at the Orthopaedic and Arthritic Institute, Sunnybrook with Dr John Cameron, an internationally renowned knee surgeon and sports injury specialist, and St Michaels Hospital, Toronto with leading knee and hip arthroplasty surgeons. This gave him considerable experience in newer minimally invasive techniques, computer navigation surgery and un-cemented implants in the field of joint replacement, and was combined with practical exposure to clinical and basic science research in cartilage engineering. He has published and presented on topics internationally. He has also been awarded membership of the faculty of sports and exercise medicine in 2008.

Before his appointment, he undertook a further specialist Knee and Hip fellowship in Oxford to gain specific training in cartilage and bone conserving surgery (Oxford unicompartmental knee replacement and Hip Resurfacing). He has extensive experience in the Oxford unicompartmental knee having worked closely with the designers.

Mr Aslam is committed to a patient-centred approach to orthopaedic surgery, he believes the patients should be fully involved in the decision making process.

In early 2017 Mr Aslam underwent additional training on the minimally invasive Hip Replacement technique, which involves less trauma to the surrounding muscles and tendons. The implant is built inside the body, so the hip is not twisted into unnatural positions during surgery. With the Hip Replacement, no muscles or tendons are cut, and patients are normally discharged between 24 – 48 hours post operation and can walk unaided days after surgery.
