Mr Francis performed my colonoscopy last year. From first meeting before starting the procedure he was incredibly respectful, kind and empathetic to my situation. He put me completely at ease and my colonoscopy was as comfortable as it could be, even without sedation. He was very thorough and took several biopsies and images to ensure nothing was missed. After the procedure he continued to see me and did everything in his power to help me get to the root cause of my symptoms. Unfortunately he was not able to manage my condition long term and we parted ways last autumn. Before discharging me he recommended a gastroenterologist to ensure I would be treated with the same empathy he had shown me. I am now under a different consultant who is able to manage my condition long term but I will never forget his kindness and compassion.

Mr Francis took over my husband's case mid treatment and at a very difficult stage in advanced bowel cancer. From our first meeting, this wonderful surgeon won the trust of my husband and me following a very rocky start in the cancer pathway. With his team, he cared for and prolonged my husband's life 4 years longer than first predicted. Although the pathway was unbearably challenging and painful, for all concerned, but especially my husband, Mr Francis never once faultered in his care, understanding and obvious concern for Terry's determination to beat cancer. My husband sadly died in March 2016 and unfortunately, due to severe PTSD I have only just reached the stage of being able to talk about it. I wish to express my deep and sincere thanks, and on behalf of Terry, for all Mr Francis and his team did to save Terry's life. Mr Francis is a wonderful surgeon and human being.

You can be totally confident if Mr Francis is treating you. I was lucky enough to be operated on by him this weekend and could not wish to have had better, kinder, more considerate, more professional care. I"m a doctor myself and have seen many, many surgeons. Few reach the standards of Mr Francis and his team. He makes you feel fully involved, but I was equally happy to take his advice and trust his experience and judgement. My case was simple, but I now know who I would choose to treat me if I needed a more serious operation.

After been diagnosed with colon cancer, I was recommended to have a dysfunctional ileostomy with view to further chemotherapy. Mr Francis performed the operation and actually removed the very large tumour completely. I have to say this man is a brilliant surgeon and would thoroughly recommend him.

Mr Francis is a superb consultant whose knowledge and experience is unrivalled. He listens to his patients, takes their personal circumstances into consideration when making decisions and has a wonderful bedside manner. He is very focused on keyhole procedures and enhanced recovery. His devotion to his patients is unwavering and I would not wish to be treated by anyone else.
