I wrote the previous 5 star review just after my assessment with Dr Husain, at which he told me that I would receive a summary letter within a week of my appointment. It's now nearly 8 weeks later, and he hasn't written it yet, which means that the application for funding has not yet been made, and I haven't been put on the waiting list for treatment. According to reception he is dealing with a backlog of work, but, as anyone waiting for psychiatric help knows, these promises are sometimes the only things that stop us from drowning. I would have preferred to have left with a realistic expectation of waiting times, or to have been kept informed of the delay.

I really only had an assessment for chronic fatigue, so not much to go on, but Dr Husain seemed to listen and was non-judgemental. I have said the same things over and over again to so many doctors and a couple of therapists over the years, so when I meet a new one I can be detached, defensive and deliver a weary monologue which even to me sounds like an unconvincing performance, but Dr Husain seemed unfazed, and took the time to tease out the information he wanted. He has a gentle, tactful manner and I left feeling more human than when I went in. I still have reservations about how much the proposed CBT can help, but Dr Husain was able to give me a degree of optimism, which is invaluable.
