Mr Bittar replaced my aortic valve and part of my aorta. I can attest that everything that the other positive reviews say is true. I particularly appreciated these: * How he explained what could be done, what would be done and why. He related the explanations and possibilities to my actual life circumstances. The answers to your questions will be directly relevant to your situation and based on the up-to-the-minute state of the art. * The personal interest that he showed immediately after the operation whilst I was still in hospital. Mr Bittar will personally be visiting and checking you whilst you are in hospital. * Dealing with the rest of his team was also straightforward and reassuring. You also get to talk to his registrar and the anaesthetist before the operation.

Words cannot describe how much respect I have for this man. At 43 years old requiring CABGx3 my world had collapsed. Mr Bittar and his team reassured, calmed and performed to the highest expectations. From my very first meeting Mr Bittar made me feel relaxed, calm and that i was in safe hands. He answered all my questions in a very professional and informative manner. After surgery he came round the wards and seen me everyday (sometimes twice if he was around) and it never felt like i was taking up too much of his time, even if i had any further questions or doubts. Mr Bittar is a true professional who obviously lives, breathes and sleeps his work but he is also very down to earth with a good sense of humour. I have just had my final discharge after 10 weeks and i have to say i will be forever in his debt. Anyone who has to go into his care can be assured of being in the best hands with the most altruistic person i think i have ever met. Thank you Mr Bittar.

Mr. Bittar performed double by-pass surgery on me. I felt in good hands as the nurses and the hospital staff told me how highly they regarded him. Mr Bittar has a calm, good-humored manner and I felt reassured on meeting him as he explained what was going to happen clearly and with great patience. Following my operation, Mr Bittar visited me on the ward to check on my progress and to answer questions. At our meeting at the Outpatients' Department some weeks later, I again appreciated Mr Bittar's patience as he responded to all my questions. I feel that I am now making a good recovery and I will always be grateful for Mr Bittar's skill, care and professional expertise.

I had a triple bypass in BVH in June the care i received, specially in intensive care, was amazing. I was surprised that i had to wait 16 weeks after the op before being seen again but i was fine. I have nothing but praise and admiration for Mr Bittar and his team

I shadowed Mr Bittar. He showed great care for his patients, listened to them and worked extremely hard. He was a wonderful teacher, explaining everything he was doing, asked us questions and taught us about chest xrays and different conditions.

Specialises in

Profile

I am a cardiothoracic surgeon, my practice is mixed. In cardiac surgery I have a special interest in aortic surgery, minimally invasive aortic surgery, I also perform the general cardiac operations ( CABG, OPCAB and valve surgery). In thoracic surgery, I deal with chest wall, lung, pleural and mediastinal surgical diseases. I have special interest in the minimally invasive approach (video assisted thoracoscopic procedures-VATS lobectomy) and fractured ribs fixation.
I am interested in research; my qualification is a Medical Doctorate M.D. from Manchester University in 2007. My thesis was based on inflammatory response to the use of cardiopulmonary bypass in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. This response was linked to certain genotypes of a certain polymorphisms.
My current affiliation is with the University of Salford, I am collaborating with researchers studying the myocardial cell dysfunction, the inflammatory response and its effect on the conduits that used in cardiac surgery.Recently I was appointed as a professor (Hon)@ the University of Salford.
