This Doctor had a very professional manner and was easy to get along with. As well as giving me details about the operation procedure he also gave me a internet link giving me more information about what to expect. This I found very useful in helping me to formulate what further questions to ask before the operation. The operation went well and I had no unexpected after effects. At my follow up appointment 4 weeks later the wound had healed nicely and following a further question, resulting in a positive answer, I was signed off. Should any future problem arise I was invited to contact him again. My care was excellent and I therefore have no suggestions regarding any improvement.

Even in the depths of Covid chaos Mr Thomas and his team made me feel reassured, safe and in the best hands, despite the unprecedented circumstances. I was very concerned that my initial consultation was only to be by telephone, but I needn’t have worried. Mr Thomas carefully explained what was wrong and what he planned to do about it. He listened to my concerns about my other medical conditions and systematically suggested what we needed to do to ensure the best outcome. When I attended for my pre-op consultation the nurse registrar identified I was suffering from AF. She arranged for me to see my anaesthetist there and then and he took time to diagnose, explain and prescribe, as well as setting up additional scans and monitoring in the 2 weeks before my operation. I am a technologist and when we met on the morning of the operation Mr Thomas was keen to share the details of the amazing robotics involved with me. Unfortunately I am also deeply frightened by surgical procedures and he quickly realised this, spared me the detail and focussed on reassurance. I was warned of the problems and risks. My surgery went very well and my tumour was removed without taking away the whole kidney. I was discharged on the 2nd day after my procedure. As well as the surgical team, thanks to the staff in the UHD unit, all the nurses doctors and support workers on Laurence ward, and the registrar who attended to reassure me 2 days later.

I found Mr Thomas to be open and honest with me. Explaining what problems I had, and what he intended to do, to cure these. The Operation I had was pain free, and could not have wished for a better outcome. I thank him for giving my life back to me.

A friendly caring and pleasant person, who explained all of the procedures that I went through in clear and easy to understand way. This put me totally at ease with everything that was going on. If needed would gladly be treated by him again
