If you need surgery mr Thornton is the surgeon everyone should be so lucky to have!
His bed side manner is amazing, his kind & caring nature i have never witnessed in a doctor before.
He’s extremely knowledgeable and an outstanding surgeon!
mr Thornton spends alot of time with each patient and you will never be rushed out of the door. You are never just a number to him, you’re a human being.
Mr Thornton makes me feel completely at ease.
Thank you for being you!
Not the man you think he is. I did not experience his kindness or anything good. Very disappointed and let down.
During august 2020 I was admitted to hospital as an emergency case, Mr Thornton was my surgeon who not only saved my life from severe and fibrosis scar tissue and adhesion but also ensure that I am able to live my life as normally as possible. I had severely blocked intestines and needed my ileocaecal valve removing as the scar tissue was to dense to remove completely I’m very lucky to not have a colostomy bag. Mr Thornton and his entire team of amazing staff helped me through one of the hardest experiences of my life and I will always remember their care and support during my 5 weeks in hospital.
A thoughly nice person who immedialy puts one at ease with his obvious expertise.
After a poor experience with another Consultant in the same hospital, it was with great relive that on a revisit I was put in Mr Thorntons' care.
His reassurance and competance are second to none
My second lot of surgery with mr Thornton.
He came before the surgery to see how I felt and to explain again in detail what he was doing. I wasn’t scared at all, because mr Thornton is extremely talented surgeon, not only that he’s deeply caring, kind and very understanding. When I have issues I contact his secretary who is absolutely amazing too, and they quickly contact me back. Honestly I’m under a lot of doctors, and I have never met a doctor quite like mr Thornton, I absolutely hold him in high regard.
I’m very lucky you are my surgeon, and probably more surgeries to come in future. I wouldn’t want anyone else operating on me.
A genuinely nice person who does care for you deeply, you aren’t just a number
Profile
Upon completing medical school in Sheffield in 2000, my early surgical training was completed in South Yorkshire following which I moved to Merseyside to complete my higher surgical training. During this period I also completed a 2 year period of research into colorectal cancer towards my MD thesis.
I have recently been appointed as a Consultant in General and Colorectal Surgery at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, with a subspecialty interest in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery. Prior to commencing this position, I completed a 6-month Laparoscopic fellowship working with Professor Pete Sagar at St James Hospital in Leeds. This training allowed me to extend my skills with advanced laparoscopic colorectal procedures. I have experienced the breadth of subspecialty colorectal practice, training in both tertiary referral and district general units. I manage both elective and emergency general surgical conditions.
My expertise is within all aspects of gastrointestinal disease, but in particular, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, incontinence and benign proctology including fistula and fissure. I am also trained in most aspects of general surgery such as abdominal wall hernia and gallstones.
