My daughter recently had spinal fusion surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital under the care of Mr Mokawem.
Mr Mokawem was able to put my daughter and I at ease from the start by honestly and concisely explaining the entire procedure.
He is extremely professional, patient and caring towards his patients and ensures that any questions are fully answered and understood. The surgery was successful and my daughter is very happy with the results.
I would not hesitate in recommending Mr Mokawem and his team.

Without any hesitation I would recommend Mr Mokawem for his skill as a surgeon and his great caring attitude.

Our daughter developed adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and we chose Mr Mokawem after some research. On meeting with him, we were struck by his calm and informative manner, giving us as much detail. We loved the fact that he addressed our daughter mostly, trying to keep the language simple. He has a serene way about him which inspires confidence.
We are very pleased with the successful results of the spinal fusion, our daughter is making steady progress. While undoubtedly a lot of skill and training is required, we very much approved of his gentle approach to something that was quite unnerving for our family. Mr Mokawem was empathetic and measured in his dealings with us. Our daughter was discharged from the RNOH last week and we feel it's important that Mr Mokawem is recognised for his efforts. We absolutely made the right choice in choosing Mr Mokawem as the level of skill and care provided by him was outstanding.

Mr Mokawem is a consultant spinal surgeon specialising in all aspects of spinal surgery with a particular interest in paediatric and adult spine deformities. He advises on non-operative and operative management and supports patients in making fully informed decisions. He uses minimally invasive techniques, computer navigated surgery and traditional open techniques as appropriate. His paediatric scoliosis practice encompasses the full repertoire of management strategies.
Mr Mokawem completed the prestigious National Spine Surgery Fellowship at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals. This is a combined neurosurgical and orthopaedic spine surgery fellowship which covers the breadth of spinal surgery and the full spectrum of spinal conditions in both paediatric and adult patients. He completed a complex spine surgery fellowship at the internationally recognised Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. This included minimally invasive and computer navigated surgery, paediatric deformity surgery and spinal tumour surgery.
Mr Mokawem has presented at national and international spine surgery conferences and has published in peer reviewed journals.
