Mr Michael Lumb saved my life after the birth of my daughter in 2003. He went above and beyond the call of duty in every sense. It is thanks to him that I went on to have my 2nd child in 2007. I have never forgotten his kindness, expertise and honest, open approach. He is truly one of life’s superhero’s and there is no accolade high enough to give him. I understand he is now retired and hopefully having the rest he deserves. Sometimes in life you meet people who shape you and change you for the better, this was one of those times. Just for the record Mr. Lumb, the baby who nearly finished me off is now 20 years old and sitting on a first class honours degree in Forensic psychology.

Mr Lumb was very nice, helpful and reassuring, he made us feel secure and cared for and even though he is retiring imminently he still went the extra mile to take care of us I’m sorry he won’t be apart of the rest of my journey.

Dr Lumb was absolutley fantastic in making both my wife & I feel a lot more at ease with the procedure he carried out. I cannot recommend this man and his whole team/department enough. Exceptional. I understand he is close to retiring and both my wife & I are incredibly grateful for his time last week. He went above and beyond what we needed and read that my wife was stressed and helped so much putting her nerves to rest. Thank you for everything. Have a wonderful retirement and enjoy your new position!

My experience with Dr Lumb was fantastic! He took time to listen to me and was informative regarding my concerns and the help and support that I can receive through my pregnancy. Very saddened to hear he is retiring as I would have loved to continue under his care through my pregnancy although wish him all the best! Leah Dobbs

When my midwife didn’t refer me after a vanishing twin, I was left in the dark and coping with the loss of one baby by myself. After mentioning this to the lovely ladies taking my blood at the hospital they spoke to Mr Lumb. It turns out I should have been referred to a consultant and Mr Lumb was a godsend to me, seeing me that day at short notice, putting my mind at ease and listening to a very emotional, struggling pregnant woman! He checked all my notes and care and explained everything to me and the new processes/screening I’d have to follow. He also did a quick ultrasound to ease my concerns about my surviving twin. I felt so much happier after speaking to him, and actually felt like I’d finally spoken to someone who cared! I was sad to learn that he will retire soon as the NHS is losing a good one! Thank you Mr Lumb. I don’t think he’ll ever realise how much he helped me!
