I had a full reverse shoulder replacement on the 29th January 2024 at Eastbourne. Mr Ricks spoke to me at 7.45 and put me at rest and fully explained the procedure. I was the seen by the anaesthetist a short while later who once again put my mind at rest and fully explained her procedure including the nerve block into my neck. Recovery was excellent post op. I was seen by the physio and later on the same day I was discharged. Recovery at home has been excellent, including one physio session to date. I then had a follow up with Mr Ricks on Tuesday 20th February, who appeared to be very pleased with my progress. The whole experience has been nothing short of amazing. The whole team have changed my life3 and now after 3 weeks I am just about out of pain, without the need for any pain relief. I can now look forward to a more fuller life thanks to this amazing NHS team. Whilst in the hospital, I saw their motto being, GETUP, GET DRESSED, GET MOVING. As a patient of this procedure and and of the knee and hip replacement, requires movement and continued exercises. This will go to strengthen the joint/ surrounding soft tissue to protect the site and provide years of enjoyment and a pain free life.

I recently had successful surgery performed by Mr Ricks for a Reverse Shoulder Replacement, I cannot speak highly enough of Mr Ricks from the first consultation his pleasant manner put me completely at ease, he spent time explaining everything from operation to what to expect after surgery, and was willing to answer any questions I had. After only three months I have my life back, and I have Mr Rick's to thank for that..

Mr Ricks is a very approachable consultant who treated me with utmost respect and courtesy. The operation on my hand has been a great success and I was given the choice of having local or general anaesthetic, the choice of which would impact on the date the operation would take place. I opted for local! During the operation, I was made to feel relaxed, I was kept informed of what Mr Ricks was doing, and he and theatre staff were professional, comforting, and made me feel that I was an important patient in their care. I cannot commend Mr Ricks highly enough for bringing some relief to my hand and improving my quality of life. Superb. I am glad that I listened to Mr Ricks' advice about the anaesthetic and would wholeheartedly recommend any future patient to be guided by his knowledge and experience.
