Knee replacement due to osteo-arthritis (expected at age 76) - actually mr F. decided on a half-knee due to other complications with my lower leg; this was carefully explained (with diagrams) as being a clinical choice and not a George Osborne economy measure. The operation was painless - I slept through it under anaesthetic, no problems. Six weeks later the stitches came out leaving a lovely example of needlework. Six months on and I can happily get up Coniston Old Man on a 10k walk - the new knee gives me no problems at all and I don't even know it's not the one I had at 16. Superb result and many thanks to Mr Freudman.

He explained everything to me clearly and gave me enough info so that I could make a decision. He gave me confidence and he came to see me personally when my operation had to be postponed at the last minute. My only disappointment was that he was unable to come and see me after surgery in the 4 days while I was in hospital. He had warned me that it would be painful and it was very painful. (He was not at the hospital where I had the op during the 4 days but did phone and speak to staff.)

On the 24th March 2016, I had my first knee consultation with Mr Mathew Freudmann at Westmoreland General Hospital Kendal Cumbria. He was warm, friendly and empathetic. He was extremely knowledgeable and honest regarding the benefits, risks and possible outcomes of knee replacement surgery. Having already had a very successful right knee replacement in 2016, I was able to ask a number of relevant questions regarding the deterioration in my left knee. His pragmatic answers and ability to really listen to my queries and concerns, gave me great reassurance in his skills as a surgeon. He gave me helpful advice on how to strengthen my leg muscles to protect my knee and I left the hospital feeling positive and less daunted by the prospect of future surgery.

Doctor Freudmann professionalism is outstanding. He is a very compassionate doctor, who takes times time to explain in a clear manner of solution to the problems with a positive attitude and most certainly fantastic outcome. His knowledge and experience is immense and when he explains, he is clear and willing to spend time, without rushing, making the appointment stress free. I have been very lucky to have been seen by Dr. Freudmann, he has helped to overcome my injuries and change my quality of life, thank you Dr. Freudmann for taking the time to get me right. :-)
