At my original assessment Mr Krkovic very clearly explained all things that could go wrong with a knee replacement operation and asked if I still wanted to go ahead. I thought that was good. On the morning of my admission, he visited me in my room before my operation and, to my surprise, a few hours after it AND the next day. It was comforting because I really did feel that he cared. His advice about taking whatever painkillers I was offered to control the pain BEFORE it started was excellent - at no time was the pain ever severe. I have told everyone that it was the best operation I've ever had because within a few hours of coming round from the general anaesthetic I actually felt hungry! My wound healed well and quickly. I have to confess that as a NHS funded patient I did wonder if there was a two tiered system when it came to treatment. I needn't have worried. The care I received from Mr Krkovic (and indeed all the Spire staff) was absolutely first class and I feel very fortunate. When I was discharged he said that if ever I was concerned I could get in touch. That surprised me and was SO reassuring. THANK YOU!
With my knee replacement I felt I was operated with 100% able surgeon following the post op recovery period. I have had a speedy recovery after 2 month I go for long walks again. The nights can still be awkward to find a restful position, there is still some 'soreness' tenderness of the knee. I dropped analgesics apart from the odd panadol with my discharge from the hospital. There is very little swelling. I have knitted a 'sleeve' I use when cold which I find helpful.
I sincerely thank everyone for my time and treatment at Spire Lea Cambridge I am most grateful.
Kind regards Laila trevor
I am very pleased with the treatment that I received with the operation and the aftercare, Being with the NHS ,I was not treated any different than a private patient,I just hope that when my right knee requires replacement possibly in the next year or so,, the NHS put me through Spire Cambridge again, thanks again.
I had surgery in May of this year involving a complex and difficult procedure. This required a rather longer than usual stay in hospital. Not only was this a complex surgical procedure it also presented, amongst other things, issues in terms of worry and uncertainty over outcomes for me as the patient.
I cannot fault the care/treatment I received from Mr Krkovic. At the same time I would also mention the fantastic staff at the hospital together with his very responsive secretarial services.
From my first appt with Mr Kkovic I was comfortable and understood the dangers of having my knee replaced, but was determined to go ahead. From consultation to operation and recovery I am very content with my care and treatment.
