Mr. Mark Simmons (Surgeon) When selecting a surgeon for my daughter’s otoplasty procedure (ear pinning surgery), we conducted extensive research to identify the most skilled professionals in this field. After a thorough evaluation, we chose Mr. Mark Simmons, practicing at Spire Hospital in Little Aston and Solihull. From our very first consultation, it became clear that we had made the right decision. Mr. Simmons' expertise is exceptional. He meticulously explained the procedure to us and our daughter, addressing all our concerns and putting us completely at ease. I saw Dr Simmons after my Mother recommended him to me as he had been so good with her. Dr Simmons was so empathetic/ friendly and I really felt he took the time to listen to me, taking all of my medical history into account. I was nervous about the camera test but he made me feel very at ease and explained it so well. I'd 100% recommend him to anyone wanting peace of mind.

I saw Mr. Simmons not too long ago for a consultation regarding a Rhinoplasty procedure. I had a really negative experience and the consultation felt incredibly rushed. Unfortunately, I felt that Mr. Simmons had no genuine care or interest for the procedure I was looking at receiving. Mr. Simmons briefly asked me what changes I would like to make but never asked for more information. I had photographs of noses to reference for him to get a better understanding of what I wanted but he never looked at them. He then proceeded to continuously mention that it might not come out perfect or look like the nose I want Which I found to be off putting, when trusting him to do this procedure. I understand with procedures like this that the outcome may not be 100% accurate, but surgeons will try their best to achieve the desired nose When looking through photos of previous work Mr. Simmons had done, he skipped a few images of his work done on Male noses, as he assumed I wouldn't want to see them due to me being a female. I’d have preferred to have seen all his work and portfolio, as I wanted to see what he was capable of on different types of noses and to see his skills. Furthermore, I came out of the consultation feeling a lot worse about myself due to certain ways Mr. Simmons decided to word other features of my face when examining my nose. It's already quite a sensitive subject wanting to change something on your face but to be told negative things about other features that are completely unrelated to the surgery, is upsetting. This was my first ever consultation for a Rhinoplasty and I decided to not go ahead with the procedure with Mr. Simmons. I felt incredibly reluctant to visit another surgeon for a consultation after this one, but luckily I did and have found somebody else who I feel more confident in.

Our daughter , who has Special Needs , had been admitted to Walsall Manor twice within a three week period due to excessive coughing and breathing difficulties . As she is Asthmatic , it was a serious concern for us . Upon discharge , we booked a private appointment to see Mr Simmons who was very courteous and patient with our daughter . He listened to her and ourselves very attentively . He explained that he was going to do some nasal tests and that her nose would feel numb and a bit funny . Thankfully , he concluded that the nose was not blocked in any way and that the cause of these coughing fits was likely to be Reflux which could well have been brought on by a recent operation our daughter had at the Birmingham Womens Hospital . He subsequently prescribed Gaviscon 4 times daily - we are keeping everything crossed that this will do the trick . Mr Simmons is a very down to earth Consultant who puts patients and parents at ease - we were very appreciative of his attentive attitude at all times
