Mr Mark Johnston

Mark Johnston is a highly trained Consultant ENT Surgeon having graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1990. Not only attaining his MBChB but also a first class honour BSc in pathological Sciences. He remained in Birmingham until starting his higher surgical training in ENT within the East Midlands Region. During this 6 year period he was based at Queens Medical Centre, Leicester Royal Infirmary and Derby Royal Infirmary. Mark was appointed as a Consultant ENT Head & Neck Surgeon at the Royal Derby Hospital in 2003. His expertise is in diseases of the ear, complex mastoid surgery and disease of the nose and sinuses (including nasal trauma) and has specialist and general ENT clinics for adult and a comprehensive paediatric service. Paediatric clinics for both the NHS and private practice take place at Derby Children's Hospital. He has peripheral clinics at both Ilkeston and Heanor Hospitals. He was regional training programme director in the East Midlands for ENT higher surgical trainees for 6 years, as well as clinical lead surgical specials in ENT through the University of Nottingham. He is a member of The British Association of Otolaryngologists, Head and Neck Surgeons (ENT-UK), The British Rhinological Society and the Midlands institute of Otolaryngology. Mark is married with two children and continues to be an active sportsman culminating in playing in the same senior rugby team at Derby RFC as his son for the past 3 years. He has also over the years raised significant amounts of money for a number of charities through endurance events with his family.
