How does one attempt to summarise someone who they feel enabled them to have their life back? I have the highest regard for Mr Falworth, not just as a very skilled and talented consultant orthopaedic surgeon, but as a professional who I have always found approachable and considerate of my individual needs and preferences. Mr Falworth set realistic expectations for all three shoulder surgeries I had. He encourages you to reach your optimal functional level post-op by re-engaging with the things that matter to you. I returned to my passion (surfing) after a total shoulder replacement, something I had previously been told I would not be able to do following the operation. Most importantly, I trust Mr Falworth's clinical decision making and I feel 100% safe in his hands. Thank you very much!

Mr Falworth is lovely - the perfect mix of friendly and professional. I had an operation for a reverse shoulder replacement. I had been apprehensive ; the last joint replacement that i had was a knee replacement, and to be honest, I was so traumatised by the pain that i was dreading the same level of pain again, and many years later, i still have trouble with it. However my fears were for nothing, and although i know there is a long road in rehab / physio, the operation went smoothly, with far less pain than expected. I would be happy to give reassurance for anybody undergoing shoulder surgery that you couldn't do better than being in the care of Mr Falworth.

After my injury, I was seen by several different doctors but none of them gave me any clear indication of the extend of my injury or the treatment needed. This lasted for about a year before I was referred to Dr Falworth. Dr Falworth examined me and he not only provided me with a clear diagnosis but he also made a treatment plan which I am very happy about as I can see the results. I must say that I felt like coming out from a darkness as, before seeing Dr Falworth, I felt hopeless and I thought I will never recover from my injury. Dr Falworth with his team and their positive approach gave me such a mental boost which is hard to express.

Mr Falworth has given great care & attention in restoring what other consultants considered not worth bothering about, especially for someone over the age of 70. My CADCAM left elbow is amazing and has given me back the use of my left arm.

Profile

My practice is solely limited to the multidisciplinary management of conditions affecting the shoulder and elbow. Patients’ needs, and the use of physiotherapy and interventional radiology techniques, are always considered before surgical solutions are discussed and utilised. All treatments are evidence based and reflect the exacting standards that I adhere to in my role as a Consultant Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.

I qualified in Medicine from King’s College Hospital, London in 1996 and underwent my higher specialist orthopaedic training on the St Mary’s Hospital rotation in London. I then undertook a further two years of specialist Fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery in London, Austria, Australia and the USA.

I now provide a comprehensive service covering all aspects of open and arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery, including providing a significant revision service to other orthopaedic surgeons throughout the UK. I am widely published in the orthopaedic research literature as well as being the author of several text book chapters related to shoulder and elbow surgery. I am also a regular invited speaker at both national and international scientific meetings and instructional courses.

I am currently the elected Vice President of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) and was Clinical Lead to the Shoulder and Elbow Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital from 2012 to 2017. I was previously the elected Hon. Treasurer to BESS and I am currently the Chairman of the Instructional Course Committee, which is responsible for coordinating educational content for the annual Instructional Course for shoulder and elbow surgeons and AHP's in the UK. In 2018 I was also honoured to be awarded a prestigious BESS Copeland Fellowship in order to help project the work of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society internationally.
