Mr DeMatas has to be one of the very best, if not the best spinal surgeon. He talks to you like you are an old friend and is straight-talking and blunt. He spends time with each patient which means you will be waiting for a while to see him, but it is worth it. He is very thorough and will do everything he can for you and explain it to you in a way you will understand. When I was about to complain that my mobility isn’t very good after having been rushed in with a massive Spinal Epidural Abscess with Psoas abscesses he interrupted me and said ‘before you moan, remember that being rushed in with a CRP of over 500 and having massive emergency surgery and being long-term in critical care, you are amazingly still alive as really you should be dead’. It kind of puts things into perspective. I’ve since been diagnosed with Arthropy of the Facet Joints and I’m now a patient of his for life. Lucky I like him!

I have a complex medical history, but I felt I must leave a review as out of all my specialist doctors, Marcus is an excellent consultant and importantly listens to you as an person and not a number. I have been under Marcus's care now for 6yrs and this man is a total legend. I have not seen him since just before Covid, but due an immanent appointment at the Walton Centre and it will be a pleasure to sit and wait for him and have a catch up. I just wish I played golf and had the opportunity to bump into him on the 19th as that would be fun. I may make light jokes about Marcus, but I would not want to see anyone else if I knew Marcus also had a clinic. A true gentleman and a fabulous consultant. You would not go far wrong if he was your surgeon.

Well what can I say about Mr Matas Fantastic down to earth surgeon I have had 13 surgerys with different surgeons and I will say that Mr Matas is number one with regards to ease to talk to just fantastic Brilliant and amazing person

I have had two major spinal procedures by Marcus, and I have to say that I have total trust and faith in him. He is always so approachable, and really makes you believe that he has the patient's interest at heart. I almost dread the day when he will discharge me because he gives you such relief to know he cares so much about your outcomes. Marcus De Matas is a TOP man.

Just got back from my first appointment with the brilliant Mr Dematas. I had spent the last month worrying that I may need very difficult spinal surgery. Mr Dematas thoroughly reviewed my case and explained everything in understandable terms. He will review me over the next 12 months but I am optimistic for a full recovery.
