Marcus Dematas is how all Surgical / Medical Profesionals should be. He is totally dedicated to his patients and his colleagues that work with him. He demands the highest of standards and he upholds the highest himself. He never complains of being tired, hardly has leisure time, or so it seemed to me as an in patient for two sessions of three months in hospital under his care. He carried out complex Spinal replacement surgery on myself and whilst I was in great pain, and had major complications he never ever blamed myself or uttered the words "If only you had done such and such, this could have been avoided!" He was respectful at all times to my wife and family and kept them informed daily of my progress and was always positive. He ensured that I received the best pre-care and after-care that was available, and has taken charge of managing other areas yet to be operated on by his colleagues for lower limb and hip surgery. I cannot recommend Marcus highly enough, and would strongly recommend that you try and see him if you need Spinal help. Marcus does not do any private work at all, as he is also busy at Alder Hey hospital helping younger patients, this reflects his total Professionalism and dedication. He is widely respected in the International field of Spinal Surgery and Fusion and has given many lectures at Conferences. Marcus is not just widely respected by his Peers, he is also held in the highest regard by all grades of staff at his hospital, whilst I was in as a patient, there was no member of staff that didn`t jump to assist him or stop to have a chat with him when they needed mentoring or umphing up. A good man and human being. Without his help I would not be able to move and would be totally wheelchair/bed bound, but I am able to move albeit slowly with a walking aid (Aids).
