This man is a genius (I don't think I have used that expression very often) - I had investigated having my knee done by others using robotic techniques. Mr Cope reassured me that by the time this equipment could be set up, he could be in and out and job done. The longer you are on the operating table, the greater risk of infection. I had complicated metalwork to be removed (Tomofix) that had been in 15 years and he still only took 61 minutes start to finish (but without that it would be around 45 mins I believe). He had to use a screw extraction kit on such embedded screws but it was no problem to him. The easiest test I can recommend to you is to research (https://www.nhs.uk/profiles/consultant/4334039#knee-replacement) how many of these procedures your other surgeon has carried out in the last 12 months - Mr Cope has done almost 3 times the number of knee operations than most other surgeons that I considered. He knows his way around a knee! I would not hesitate in recommending him. Rick Robinson
