My wife was referred to the North West Anglia NHS Trust for an urgent examination under the 14 day cancer pathway. She received an ENT appointment by text and misread the location as being Peterborough when the appointment was actually at Hinchingbrooke, Huntingdon. On presenting herself at the Peterborough ENT Dept, the error became readily apparent but a very kind receptionist spoke to the ENT Specialist Doctor who was nearing the end of his clinic. Dr Marcin Kowalczyk, not only agreed to see my wife at no notice, but he conducted an extremely thorough examination using an endoscope which must have added an hour to his already busy clinic. I was present throughout the consultation and I have to say that Dr Kowalczyk's manner was impeccable. My wife rarely sees doctors and is quite a nervous patient. Dr Kowalczyk put her at complete ease, explaining not just the procedure in great detail but how the symptoms she had been experiencing were being caused. To our great relief, Dr Kowalczyk was able to allay our worst fears and prescribe medication for a minor ailment that can be easily treated. My wife and I will thank Dr Kowalczyk personally but we are keen that others know of our extremely positive experience of his care and consideration. Frankly, when we realised our error, we were expecting to be turned away and re-referred back to Hinchingbrooke at a later date. Our experience today was of the NHS at its very best! My wife and I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr Marcin Kowalczyk to anyone in need of an ENT specialist.
