Mr Sood is an excellent surgeon and I can recommend him highly. I have just had my second knee replacement and regard him so highly I only wanted him to perform it. He is totally dedicated to the right outcome for the patient and is a perfectionist. He seems to be on the pulse of new research, and is willing to adapt his care and advice where he sees fit. He is now recommending a new ice machine to reduce swelling, bruising and aiding a better patient outcome. I hired one of these machines on his advice and it was brilliant. It definitely helped in my recovery outcome. I would have no hesitation in recommending him. He is an expert in his field, knows his stuff and is confident in his own abilities which is reassuring. I had my op at The Manor and I was slightly disappointed in the nursing care. Every aspect has been great - consultant, pre admission, catering, housekeeping, x-ray dept, theatre staff, pharmacy. Sadly let down by a bit of poor nursing care certainly compared to previous stays at this same hospital.

Across the two years or so that I had consultations with Mr Sood my confidence in him continued to build. By the time a total hip replacement procedure was deemed necessary - after treatment for bursitis and general remedial work had not improved my situation - any concerns I had about the surgery and resulting outcome were minimal. I am more than happy to recommend Mr Sood for the appropriate specialist procedures that he provides and in addition commend his administrative and support team for their helpful and prompt response to any questions I had.

I have to give only 5 stars here, as there is no option to give 10. I spent approximately 15 years in a wheelchair with severe debilitating arthritis in both knees and both hips. I could not stand on my feet for longer than a minute or two. Surgeons who looked at my X-rays ran out of the room with screams and hid in the toilet. Not Mr. Sood. He just smiled. Being in my position one always dreams of finding an extremely gifted, able and willing Michelangelo surgeon, who will listen, understand and answer properly, and who is ready not only to offer, but also to deliver the best possible solution, and who is willing to build my completely ruined 4 joints from scratch one by one over period of time. Usually however, the listed above qualities are spread freely among number of surgeons. Finding them all (and more) in one person is a life jackpot! I got lucky and you, simply by being here and reading my feedback for Mr. Sood are very lucky too! Mr. Sood took aboard my case and patiently waited for me to be ready to do all 4 operations. And this took some time because of different life reasons. I am here to report now that 4 years and 4 very complicated, long and difficult, but fully successful on many levels operations later, I have 2 brand new knees and 2 brand new hips, I have gained a pair of legs to die for and I have a new found zest for life. My wheelchair will go to a charity very soon. The 4 incisions Mr. Sood did are pure art, the aftercare is professional, yet heart-warming every time, the result is stunning! My disability life is in my past now! 4 years ago, for well over a decade and a half, if I wanted to go on a holiday, I had to find adapted accommodation and make all arrangements for traveling with a wheelchair user (whoever did it knows how much "fun" all this is). Today I am ready for those long beach walks on my own two feet! All thanks to Mr. Sood and his excellence as an orthopaedic surgeon every time from the first try! If you are now researching around to find your best orthopaedic surgeon match, if you have problems with your legs and are eager to go for the most perfect fix - do not look any further! Your search is over! You found the best of the best of the best - Mr. Sood! All you have to do is give his office a ring. His team will take the rest from there and you can relax and enjoy the ride to your new life, as much as you can. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I would absolutely recommend this consultant in every way. Mr Sood is a consummate professional, whose aim is the care of the patient. He is kind, caring and has a very gentle manner. I always felt that I could trust him to diagnose, treat and heal me using his abilities as a surgeon.

Profile

Mr Sood is a renowned Hip and Knee Surgeon who deals with all Hip and Knee issues as well as sports injuries. He has been in Specialist Consultant Practice since 2004. He treats all lower limb sports injuries and tendon pain, particularly tendinopathies. He also has considerable expertise in knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, cartilage regeneration procedures, and hip and knee replacement (including revision and complex cases).

He is proud to have been awarded both the Top Doctors Certificate of Excellence for his patient ratings in 2020 and the iWantGreatCare Certificate of Excellence in 2021 for delivering outstanding care. He has also been recognised by his NHS Trust by the award of 3 Clinical Excellence awards

Mr Sood is a firm believer in preserving native joints (joint preservation) by reconstructing joint damage using cartilage regeneration techniques and biological therapies. He is also, however, an expert hip and knee joint replacement surgeon where arthritis is too advance for joint preservation. His data from The National Joint Registry shows that he has excellent patient outcomes and a very low risk of complications.

Mr Sood has excellent communication skills and provides his patients with jargon-free explanations about their problems. He assesses his patients very carefully and organises specialist scans when needed to arrive at an accurate diagnosis. He only works with a very select team of specialist radiologists to ensure high quality scan interpretation. After diagnosis he provides a clear individualised treatment plan to his patients that considers their individual circumstances and their exercise/activity goals. He provides a wide range of treatment choices suited to each patient, including non-surgical options.

His extensive experience allows him to diagnose and treat more rare conditions, and he is often sought out to provide second opinions. In his referral practice, he manages the most complex and challenging cases such as hip and knee replacements that have failed and must be redone. Mr Sood runs a hip and knee unit at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and has earned three Clinical Excellence Awards for his work.

Mr Sood treats all lower limb Sports injuries in athletes and weekend warriors and also has an interest in the treatment of Tendon Pain especially Tendinopathies.

Mr Sood graduated from Guys Hospital in 1992 and went on to train at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) where he became Clinical Lecturer to the Professorial Unit. In 2004, he received additional Specialist training in Hip and Knee Surgery at two Centres of Excellence in North America, The Mayo Clinic and Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was mentored by two of the world's best hip and knee surgeons.
