I would just like to take this time to express my gratitude to Mr Barkatali. Not only is he friendly and approachable, he is also a first class surgeon - and believe me, I have had many since my unfortunate road traffic motorcycle accident, in September 2005. Initially I was referred to Mr Barkatali for pain in my right knee joint - premature wearing of the joint, as my left leg had taken most of the impact in my accident, my right knee had been over-compensating for lacking's in my left leg. I received surgery to explore my constant pain, then remedial micro fracture surgery, in an attempt to rejuvenate the surface of the joint - this took time to heal, but is now like it was before the erosion of the surface and meniscus. I then asked if he could address the laxity in my left knee, something I had suffered due to hyperextension of the joint in the accident - stretching the cruciate ligaments beyond being serviceable. Mr Barkatali performed the double cruciate ligament, and now I am able to walk without the fear of the leg giving way - this is a work in progress for me, as I am still working with physio to build muscle bulk in my upper leg. All of the treatment was done in a timely manner, and also worked in with my life and work demands. No surgeon is a miracle worker, but Mr Barkatali comes very close to achieving that. Many thanks for working with me, Garry Webster

I had a total knee replacement in 2013 by mr sampath @ the oaklands not good slight improvement for 6 months then ditorated badly kept going back to see him he said its stable and best to leave alone might make things worse. After many vists to A & E after my knee giving way. I got an appointment with mr BARKATALI right away he showed care and consideration. Many scans and xrays later to check the components of the knee. He advised me it was unstable and needed to be replaced again ( revision ) i was booked in for surgery he did say i will never be pain free but he will stop the knee giving way. Which put me back to square one every time it happend not good for a 43 year old man. I had the surgery july 2017 worst operation ever. Mr BARKATALI said what he found when he cut me up was very bad and a very difficult operation the components were oversized to much tibia bone cut away and positions of the cuts in the bone were wrong.. after many months of mega pain i have slowly improved knee doesnt give way any more TARGET ACHIVED still not pain free but a lot lot better than it was. I cant praise mr BARATALI enough top notch surgeon great care from first appointment and still ongoing Thankyou very much mr BARKATALI xx

Mr Barkatali did revision knee replacement on my wife Kathleen Parkinson right knee on 26/1/2018 after problem with previous knee replacement that last ten years. The surgery went great and so did my recovery She went today 9/2/2018 for my 6 weeks. She is able to bend knee fully and straiten it fully also. Mr Barkatali treated my wife courteously at all times and made having the surgery easy. She is able to do more and be in less pain than she was on the first replacement ten years ago? She is more confident a happier in herself this is due to Mr Barkatali skill as a surgeon and the care and nursing by the staff at Oakland’s Hospital. Thank you Geoff Parkinson.

From surgery to seeing Mr Barkatali 6 weeks later she has got full movement in her knee and has been signed off by him. She suffers less pain than before the surgery. Mr Barkatali from the first time we met him treated my wife with respect and helped her through everything and with care? Thank You

My first meeting with Mr Barkatali was a very painful one - my hip was really playing up that day!! However, within a very short time, he reassured me that all would be well eventually and, sure enough, true to his word I am now almost pain free. I had a hip replacement at the Spire Regency, Macclesfield on 5th January 2018 and Mr Barkatali has made my life so much easier - almost back to normal and, for an 82-year-old, this is wonderful. The whole experience of my stay at The Regency could not have been better - the treatment, every member of very pleasant staff and, of course, Mr Barkatali's attention. A very big thank you to all concerned.
