Mr Lorenzo Garagnani

Mr Lorenzo Garagnani is a highly specialised Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon who treats the whole spectrum of disorders of the hand, wrist and peripheral nerves of the upper limb, both in adults and children. Mr Garagnani qualified at Bologna University (Italy). He trained in Trauma and Orthopaedics, mainly based at Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute, a leading institution in the field of Orthopaedics. He completed his sub-specialist training in Hand and Wrist Surgery in the UK, where he was Hand Fellow at the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department of the Oxford University Hospitals, Hand Fellow at The Hand Clinic in Windsor, Hand Fellow at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and Paediatric - Congenital Hand Fellow at the world renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. As a specialist Hand and Wrist Surgeon, he worked at Humanitas Clinical Institute (Rozzano, Milan, Italy), was Locum Consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, and Consultant at the Department of Hand Surgery and Microsurgery of Policlinico di Modena University Hospital (Modena, Italy) where he was joint Lead of the Paediatric – Congenital Upper Limb and Hand Anomalies Service. Mr Garagnani was appointed Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London in November 2015. In 2017, he was also appointed Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine of King’s College London. Mr Garagnani is author of numerous peer reviewed scientific publications and regular speaker and invited faculty member at national and international conferences and courses. Mr Garagnani is member of several international hand and wrist surgery societies, past member of the Guidelines Committee of SICM (Italian Society for Surgery of the Hand), and current member of the International Relations Committee of the ASSH (American Society for Surgery of the Hand). Mr Garagnani’s research focuses on innovative and minimally invasive techniques in paediatric and adult hand surgery that allow reduction of surgical morbidity.
