Mr Longstaff and his team performed right knee replacement surgery on me on Dec14th 2020 at the Washington Spire Hospital . The procedure was done as a NHS patient and was a total success , I was discharged the next day after less than 24hrs in Hospital. My recovery to normal is well on target and well within expected medical and physiotherapy expectations. The care and treatment that I received at the Washington Spire from pre med, CV19 test, Anasthasia , post op aftercare, and physiotherapy were of the highest professional standards. My condition continues to improve and I would recommend Mr Longstaff and the Washington Spire to anyone contemplating Knee replacement.

I recently had a total hip replacement carried out by Mr. Longstaff. I was treated with the utmost respect and immediately felt in "good hands". He is a good listener with excellent communication skills, and obviously very organised because he is always on time! I felt my life had been transformed, having forgotten what it was like to walk normally and not to have any pain. I had a quick recovery and am extremely grateful to him.

I had suffered for many years from pain in both of my knees. The pain everyday was having a big impact on my daily living and I was not able to enjoy simple activities with my family. Following a referral from my GP I was put in touch with Mr Longstaff at the Nuffield Hospital Newcastle upon Tyne. I can honestly say that even from my initial appointment with Mr Longstaff I knew that I was in the best hands and I left feeling so happy and positive about my treatment plan. From then onwards the level of care I received was second to none. I had my first full knee replacement surgery in January 2020 and my second in November 2020. I was very worried about the impact the surgery wound have on my work commitments (being self employed) however his reassurance and fantastic communication lessoned my concerns and he did everything he could to work with me regarding the timing of my surgery. I am absolutely elated with my two new knees and the scarring is so minimal you wouldn’t notice unless close up. Many family and friends have commented on my speedy recovery from both operations! I’m already enjoying the benefits along with my family as before even going for a short walk was not possible beforehand. I genuinely can’t thank Mr Longstaff enough for the way my life has changed and not only is he a fantastic surgeon, he’s a really caring and kind person. I can’t thank him enough and would recommend him 110%!

Excellent - from our first meeting, throughout the procedure and afterwards Mr Longstaff gave me confidence that I was in great hands. In particular he took care to select and explain to me the best design of replacement hip for my circumstances. Most importantly, the procedure was a complete success making a huge difference to my quality of life. Thank you.
