I actually went to see Mike Tappin regarding cataract surgery, and as soon as he saw me he diagnosed a retinal detachment with three retinal tears and an operculated hole, and arranged for me to have the operation with Mr Joshi within 12 hours. It all came as a bit of a surprise, but Mr Joshi was calming and reassuring, and I found the whole operation process surprisingly interesting, and was talked through the whole process. The recovery went as expected, and 6 weeks later I was signed off and was able to then go ahead and have my cataracts attended to. Whilst I have no wish to repeat the process in my other eye, if I had to, I would have no hesitation in having Mr Joshi carry out the procedure.

I was referred to DR Joshi by another consultant. He came highly recommended. I had a detached lens capsule and my vision was awful. It’s a rare condition and would require complex eye surgery. I was very anxious to say the least, but Dr Joshi was superb. He explained exactly what was needed and how he had experience completing the procedure. He was confident my condition could be remedied. This made me feel much better and in very capable hands. The operation went very well, but I had an allergic reaction to some eye drops afterwards. He saw me straight away (within a few hours) and I felt he was always there should I need him to check on my eye. He is incredibly thorough and I am very happy to say I have had a great result and my eye is in great condition. I think it is very important to get the right doctor and I would highly recommend Dr Joshi for this type of complex eye surgery. He is clearly extremely skilled in his field, but also a really caring doctor who will support his patients throughout any procedure.

Cataract surgery is incredible - she surgeon in less than 15 minutes and under local anaesthetic - replaces your lens and your double fuzzy vision is gone. Lavnish Joshi’s energy, easy manner coupled with a quiet professionalism immediately put’s you at ease. He explains everything beforehand. It is amazing lying there, aware of a very bright light hearing his regular updates, “please move head slightly right” and his team of nurses at the Lister -you relax and nearly enjoy the experience. Lavnish’s after care is terrific, you can always reach him. Hopefully I will have no more eye issues, but I wouldn’t hesitate to ask for Lavnish.

As soon as I met Lavnish Joshi, I knew he was someone I could trust. He was patient, he listened and his quiet professionalism went a long way to easing my great fear of surgery on my eye. He explained everything clearly and I was sufficiently confident to have local rather than general anaesthetic during the vitrectomy and cataract surgery. A procedure I had been dreading turned out to be more fascinating than frightening as he took time to explain the various stages of the surgery. Follow-up appointments showed that the full thickness macular hole had been closed and I am delighted with the result. I could not recommend Mr Joshi more highly, especially for those, like me, for whom this is their first ever significant surgery.
