12 years ago my knees were approved for replacement. Ten years ago after trying arthroscopy the left was replaced. Other operations/ Covid and life unfolded. At 77 I was resigned to stick/ frame/ wheelchair . An X Ray and a fast track to meeting Laurie Dodd occurred . How blessed I am this happened. To have such a gifted surgeon become a huge influence on the rest of my life was incredible. Imagine feeling as if it were your child reassuring a parent on every conceivable aspect of major surgery. Within weeks I was cared for pre/ during and after surgery perfectly. It was my joy after six weeks to attend my post op appointment and tell him I had come straight from climbing The Trundle at Goodwood ( the longest route too) Aware that replacement knees often feel exactly that , I can say this knee feels and operates so naturally already . I can not find sufficient words to thank this gifted gentleman.

My whole experience with Mr Dodd was reassuring from the outset. I damaged my knee skiing 30 years ago and it finally gave up last year. I needed a total knee replacement, complicated by the fact that there was a very large pin in my knee from the previous surgery. Plus I’d left it rather too long so I had significant arthritis and bone growths. On top of that, I know 3 people whose knee replacements haven’t gone so well so I was, understandably, nervous. Mr Dodd explained the procedure very clearly and I felt confident from the outset. He was there when I woke up from the surgery and visited me 3 times in the hospital to see how I was doing. And I’m doing really well, 6 weeks from my surgery I’m walking my dogs and pretty pain free, except when I overdo the exercise. I’m a great ‘checker’ so I took the opportunity to quiz the nurses on the ward, they really know what’s going on. They all told me Mr Dodd was ‘the best’, praise indeed. A charming man and an excellent surgeon, I highly recommend him.

Not only the sharpest dressed doctor I've ever met but a man with great integrity and honesty. I received excellent care at The Nuffield, Chichester and the whole team overall were welcoming, professional and reassuring. Dr Dodd made me feel confident about the whole process ahead of me within a few minutes of our first meeting. From then on he was attentive, thoughtful and highly professional. The operation has been very successful. I trust this guy...

I was fortunate enough to have full knee construction 5 days ago at the Nuffield in Chichester on the NHS performed by Mr Dodd. He has a knack of making you feel calm and also assuring you how professional he truly is. Constantly popping in whilst having a very busy schedule to answer any queries and to put me at ease. Laurie Dodd is a most appoachable, dedicated and listening surgeon. My inital referral was via the NHS but I have never had a reason to question why I chose to go private with Laurie, especially since he had to revise both of my knees within a 6 month period this year due to loosening of the originals. On both occasions, Laurie was straight talking but emapathetic, professional and highly skilled. As Laurie has a foot in both NHS and private camps he is ideally placed to not only provide an excellent service but also reduce NHS waiting lists for those able to benfit privately. In addition, due to his history with me and contacts with post surgical physiotherapy, Laurie was able to avoid a significant delay and complication for my second revision for which I am eternally grateful with Laurie making out of band visits post surgery to check my progress. I have made very rapid recoveries from both revision surgeries, in no small part due to Laurie and his team's expertise. I would recommend Laurie and his team with no hesitation whatsoever.
