Lance Hollis in my opinion was professional in his approach. He spent the time understanding the reason for attending , the concerns i did have and examining and addressing those concerns with factual knowledge. The resultant was an informative conclusion i understood, confirmed by a written report. Thankyou.

I had an ear infection before new year for which my doctor prescribed antibiotics. The pain subsided but I remained with drastically impaired hearing in my right ear, swishing sound on movement, loud ringing and blocked feeling. No improvement after 4 weeks so my doctor then referred me to ENT but warned me there was a long wait. I had confirmation from the hospital that I was on their waiting list, but on enquiry was informed the wait for initial consultation was 55 weeks! I decided to pay for a private consultation at Droitwich Private Hospital, telephoning on a Friday and being given an appointment for the following Tuesday with Mr Hollis. Mr Hollis was very professional and took time to listen to all my symptoms and carry out thorough examination and a procedure to try and help clear my ear. He diagnosed glue ear resulting form the infection and felt it should clear in another 4-6 weeks with use of a steroidal nasal spray. I was very relieved and am starting to see improvements after 2 weeks. Mr Hollis advised returning for review in 6 weeks if my hearing, etc was not back to normal by then to assess for insertion of grommets. I am very reassured by his diagnosis and recommendation.

Dr Hollis was very thorough in both my initial consultation and fitting a grommet in my right ear. Both appointments were only a week apart so my hearing improved dramatically in a short space of time. My initial approach was via my GP and needless to I am still waiting for an Appointment on the NHS so far its been 4 months. As far as the Spire is concerned they could well do with reviewing their telephone answering system because vit was a nightmare trying to get to speak to anybody.

I paid private for ENT department after weeks of pain and seeing 2 doctors, but I had appointment with the private hospital fairly quick. My complaint is it took near 3 weeks for me to have a reply after seeing the private doctor and my gp is still waiting !!!! as I was prescribed a pain killer for my ailment and my gp wouldn’t give it until he had heard from the hospital so I had 3 more weeks of pain and couldn’t do anything !!!! Iv had to pay for all this appallingly and I’m disgusted!!! as emails take a second to send patients details and prescriptions. So Iv been suffering for another 3 weeks and still am though I’m expected to pay a fortune!!!

Profile

I practice as a general ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon seeing both adult and paediatric patients throughout hospitals in Worcestershire where I have been a consultant since 2003.

Over this time I have developed a special interest in facial plastic surgery. This means that I see patients with lesions of the face and neck which are benign but generally cancerous working closely with the dermatologists who refer patients to me for treatment.

Facial plastic surgery also involves cosmetic surgery of the ear and nose in which I also have an interest. I'm a member of both European and UK national facial plastic learned societies which ensures that I'm kept up to date with modern practice.
