Due to my daughter being very unwell for a number of years I lost faith in the professionals who attempted to "help" . Then I met Dr Krishna who has been nothing but kind , patient , informative and understanding not only to my daughter but to us as a family , I have 100% trust in him and for the first time in many years I am feeling positive and that my daughter is on the right track to recover , We can never thank you enough for everything you do .

Unfortunately for about 5 years, my sister and I were begging for help as her mental health deteriorated and we both fought hard for support from the mental health services . however when her illness got worse she was unable to fight and therefore I had to carry her through to get the help she desperately needed. I believed that my sister was being misdiagnosed by previous drs as her diagnoses did not make sense with what I was witnessing and what my sister was experiencing and that led me to document everything to prove what I was saying was right and that I know my sister better than anyone and that my gut instinct is that she is not on the right medication and not receiving the right treatment, and is being treated for the wrong thing- which led to more of a deterioration in her mental health. I can’t even begin to explain how hard it’s been to feel listened to and taken seriously. Unfortunately my sister became worse and was taken into hospital and I believe our lucky stars were lined up that day as dr Krishna took control and decided the best thing was to keep her in hospital to asses her thoroughly. He listened to everything I said and him and his team have been observing her closely with a fine tooth comb (which I felt other drs did not do) and are doing everything they can do support her, they are looking at a diagnosis that I always thought it could be but I was made to feel silly by other drs for even suggesting such thing. Even writing this review is bringing a tear to my eye as I can’t quite explain how tricky this has been to find a dr who really listens and really truly cares. I used to feel sick to my stomach before ward round as I felt that I had to try so hard to fight for her, where as ward rounds with dr Krishna have been enlightening and extremely reassuring. I felt like I lost my sister forever- but today when I saw her after her being on a new medication - I saw a glimpse of my old sister before the illness- and I couldn’t believe it. This is going to be a long journey for us but knowing that we are finally on the right path to understanding how to support her and get her feeling ‘okay’ again is all I needed. I believe that dr Krishna is one in a million, and really should be treasured. He is understanding, empathetic, determined and extremely hardworking and this is all very obvious from my sisters first ward round. THankyou so so much.

Dr. Krishna dealt with my unique situation and my crisis with the upmost professionalism. His easy manner allowed me to fully identify all facets of my problems and issues and his diagnosis was both quick and effective. He and his staff at the Berrywood Hospital were caring and supportive of both myself as a patient and my family members also affected by my crisis. With his support whist in hospital, along with all the nurses and staff on Cove Ward, I quickly managed to come to terms with the diagnosis and the treatments and I am confident that I can get through this and come out of these events without my 'black cloud' of depression and use the skills to manage my anxiety and other issues. A big thanks to everyone who helped me and my family through this difficult time.

Highly professional, knowledgeable, confident, calming and caring throughout the treatment period. Superb skills always demonstrated and utilised to ensure rapid improvement in patient condition and to maximise the beneficial effects of prognosis and treatment. At all times ensured that all family members were kept fully informed of any necessary decisions or recommendations and involved them fully with all of the patient care team and all applicable review meetings. We are truly grateful thank you all.

Profile

I am a Consultant Psychiatrist based at Berrywood Hospital, Northampton.
I work full-time and look after all patients on Cove Ward. I am also responsible for half of the inpatients on Harbour Ward. I chose working on the wards over community as I find this role to be much more exciting, challenging and rewarding. I really enjoy my role and try my best to give a high quality and holistic service to all my patients and their carers.
