After months and months of discomfort I wanted to seek private help. I appreciate that the NHS is under enormous pressure but equally I didn't want to wait months, possibly longer. So, I decided that I was going to search for the best. After extensive research I came across Mr Gnanalingham. What a find! Mr Gnanalingham met me with a warm and friendly smile, immediately putting me at my ease! He listened carefully to my problems and concerns. Apart from being extremely eminent and an expert in his field Mr Gnanalingham Is understanding, reassuring and caring. I, without doubt, recommend Mr Gnanalingham. Simply the best!

I suffered great pain and loss of quality of life, due to my severe back condition. Urgent surgery was needed on two levels of my lumbar spine. Mr Gnanalingham’s Personal Assistant, Vaani, planned and organised my journey as a patient, efficiently, effectively, and with compassion, which reassured me, and allowed me to focus entirely on my treatment and recovery. Dr Sebastian, and the entire healthcare team who looked after me, provided exceptional care at a time that I felt most vulnerable. Mr Gnanalingham’s surgical excellence, outstanding patient care, kindness and compassion, allowed me to get my life back, and for that, I will be forever grateful.

I had experienced occasional sciatica pain in my left leg since 2012 when an MRI scan showed narrowing in my spine but it was not considered urgent enough to operate. By 2022 the pain had increased going down my right leg. A year later the pain in my right leg had worsened to such a level that I struggled to walk and found no relief from all the medication prescribed by my GP. Despite an urgent referral by my GP I found out that I would have to wait 80 weeks for an NHS consultation. Following a recommendation, I met Mr. Gnanalingham for a consultation where he carefully showed me my scan results and explained the options available and risks. I opted for a lumber decompression operation and attended the Alexandra Hospital early on a Saturday morning where I met Mr. Gnanalingham and his team. After the operation, my wife was pleased to receive a phone call from Mr. Gnanalingham explain progress and what she could do to help. I was well looked after for all the time I was at the Alexandra. On Sunday morning I spent time with a physiotherapist where I walked and climbed stairs without leg pain – what a relief! The first time in a year without leg pain. I was able to leave hospital the same day and have attended a follow-up consultation with Mr. Gnanalingham where he was pleased with progress. My follow-up physio sessions have demonstrated good progress too. My warmest thanks to Mr. Gnanalingham and his excellent team for helping to get back my life.

I recently underwent surgery for a trapped nerve in my neck. This was carried out by Mr. Gnanalingham at The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle. The consultation and scans, with follow up, were conducted quickly. As a result of the scans I had surgery at C6 level on my Cervical spine. This alleviated the symptoms of left arm pain, and the numbness in my left thumb is improving. Mr Gnanalingham was very professional and gave me information during the experience. At all times he was willing to listen to my concerns. His secretary, Vaani, was always navailable to answer questions, or pass on information. I would heartily recommend having treatment with Mr. Gnanalingham and his team.

I would absolutely recommend Mr Gnanalingham. He treated my wife following an accident, was excellent and when I developed a problem I sought his advice. He has a very nice manner and is very approachable. His secretary Vaani should also get a mention as she assists greatly in the process and oils the wheels. It is a real help to the patient to have someone you can readily contact in the event of any query, arranging scans, x-rays and dealing with any admin. She always responds promptly and efficiently. Investigations such as scans were conducted immediately without any difficulty. My MR provided clear diagnosis. Mr Gnanalingham explained things clearly, showing me the relevant sections on screen, from the scans and provided some reassurance as he put the findings in context, in respect of age and general condition of my spine. Advice in respect of activities and sports, which were suitable for my condition was very useful. In essence advice was practical and straightforward. I did not feel under any pressure to have further treatment. Indeed Mr Gnanalingham was in favour of managing the condition conservatively with physio. He assisted with a physio referral and this proved to be excellent also and most effective. As I write this I am pain free and whilst a cure is not possible I feel a different person to that prior to seeking help. I am more confident moving and performing day to day activities, which didn’t feel possible previously. Whilst I do not delude myself, I’m sure at some point I will have problems again, but I feel much better equipped to deal with and manage it and Mr Gnanalingham stressed I can return at any time to review my situation. Obviously I sincerely hope, in the nicest possible way, not to have see Mr Gnanalingham again! But if I require it, for further advice, management or medical intervention, I would definitely feel confident in doing so and indeed he would be my first port of call. So all in all a very positive experience.
